When reached for comment Griffin said, “I am beyond thrilled to be hosting what I'm told is the most important television event of the year. Knowing that over 100 million people from every corner of the planet will be watching, I will try to keep my nerves at bay and deliver a great show. I can only hope that at the end of the evening, critics and fans alike will compare it to the experience they once had watching Neil Armstrong take man's first step on the moon. My only regret is knowing that this epic evening will distract millions of viewers from enjoying this year's World Cup. I apologize to FIFA.”

What is the official hashtag of the Daytime Emmys?
Use #DaytimeEmmys in your tweets or other social media postings.

Where can I find the Daytime Emmys on social media?
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) enlisted the help of four Social Media Ambassadors to help bring its red carpet and Livestream broadcast into the homes, and mobile devices, of fans around the world.

Lauren Elizabeth (Twitter), Brittany Furlan (Vine), Jessica Harlow (Facebook), and Meghan Rosette (Instagram) were selected by Here Media to represent the Daytime Emmys in this endeavor not only for their enthusiastic social media followings, but because they are aligned with the celebratory nature of the event and the supportive environment that the organization promotes.

Throughout the evening, the ambassadors will circulate through the red carpet and official Social Media Lounge. In the lounge, a VIP area within the pre-show cocktail reception, the women will interact with the biggest stars of the evening and allow fans to interact with them via their favorite online platforms, utilizing the hashtag #DaytimeEmmys.

Serial Scoop will be live-tweeting during the red carpet and the ceremony at @SerialScoop.  You can also follow tweets by the stars of Daytime on our Twitter widget (on the right side of this page).

Who won at the Creative Arts (Technical) Emmys?
The winners of the Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards were announced on Friday, June 20 in a sold-out, grand gala for over 1,200 attendees at the Westin Bonaventure, in downtown Los Angeles.

What is the Social Media Fan Favorite prize?
This year fans had the opportunity to select a "Fan Favorite" on the Daytime Emmys Facebook page. The ten nominees had some of the largest, most passionate social media followings. After the Daytime Emmy Awards livestream concludes, one of the social media ambassadors will announce which of the ten nominees was selected "Fan Favorite" for 2014.

The Complete Story of 'The Doctors' (1963-1973)

Daytime TV covered the world of soap operas for decades before finally folding in the 1990s. In the mid-70s, the magazine did an excellent series titled "The Complete Story of..." recounting the history of a soap opera from its inception. Below is the historical feature on the first 10 years of NBC's The Doctors (1963-1973), which is currently being aired on Retro TV. Some of the interesting tidbits include: * The Doctors did not start as a serial; it began as a "half-hour anthology series of medical dramas, set in the large metropolitan Hope Memorial Hospital, and with the four principals alternating daily in the lead role, according to NBC's original announcement. The roles were Dr. William Scott (played by Jock Gaynor), Dr. Jerry Chandler (portrayed by Richard Roat), Dr. Elizabeth Hayes (played by Margot Moser) and Rev. Emmy Award-nominated Melody Thomas Scott admits she is nothing like her The Young and the Restless role, which has seen it all in her forty-one-year tenure on America’s highest-rated daytime serial. But the high drama, angst, and catastrophes aren’t confined to her character’s plotlines. In her first-ever book, the captivating memoir "Always Young And Restless" (Diversion Books; July 14, 2020, available for pre-order now; $26.99, Hardcover; ISBN 978-1635-766943), Melody reveals the intimate and complicated truths of her upbringing as well as behind-the-scenes tales of her own riveting journey to becoming an icon and searching for “normal.” “Even though I have spent almost my entire life as an actress and performer, I have kept my private life well behind the scenes,” said Scott. “Now, I am ready to share these stories of survival and success that have shaped me into who I am today.” As Nikki Newman went from impoverished stripper to resourceful, vivacious heroine—with m
