Daytime Emmy Awards: 2 Hours, No Commercials, More Clips, 24 Categories Presented

The 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are going to be streamed via online at beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 22. David Michaels, Senior Executive Director, Daytime Emmy Awards for The National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences, revealed some insights about this year's ceremony in a new interview with Soaps In Depth.

Below are some of the highlights:

* The broadcast will include 24 categories now, substantially more than would be seen on the normal TV broadcast.
    - All the main daytime soap opera categories will be there (drama series, writing, directing, acting).
    - The new category for Web soaps, Outstanding New Approaches – Drama Series, will be there.  Nominees: DeVanity, Tainted Dreams, The Power Inside, Venice.
    - The Special Class Special category will be included (one of the nominees for that is the Jeanne Cooper tribute episode that The Young and the Restless aired on May 28, 2013).

* No host has been chosen yet but offers are out.

* Expect to see more video/clips than in recent years.

* There ceremony will run two hours, without commercials.
