Hallmark Channel Original Movie A Novel Romance premieres on Saturday, January 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The film stars Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black), (Arrow), (As the World Turns), Indie Series Award-winner Amy Acker (Angel), (Person of Interest) and Charles S. Dutton (Roc), (The Following).

Liam Bradley (Bruce), a romance novelist with a nom de plume retreats to a small town to find inspiration for the follow-up to his previous bestselling books. He instead finds himself falling in love with Sophie Atkinson (Acker), a local book reviewer, herself recovering from a relationship with another public figure. The two struggle with their fears of revealing truths about themselves – just as the writer’s public revelation from behind his pseudonym is about to take place, threatening their romance.

Though Phillip qualifies as the "perfect" fiance, Georgie feels a romantic spark is missing in their relationship. Tensions rise even further when Phillip's sophisticated mother, Felice (Smith), blatantly frowns upon Georgie’s working class origins. On the picturesque island, Georgie keeps finding herself in chance encounters with Luke Griggs (Walker), a scruffily handsome ex-architect, who walked away from a high-end architectural firm to enjoy a simple, no-frills life. When an undeniable chemistry develops between Georgie and Luke, Georgie must decide if she’s going to move ahead with her rapidly approaching marriage to Phillip.

With no one to watch their 4-year-old daughter Mia, the couple decides to enroll her into the local daycare center owned by a seemingly responsible older woman, Gabby (Carlson Romano). After a few weeks of Mia's awkward behavior, Rachel concludes her daughter may be getting mistreated at the day care facility. Going on the offensive, Rachel decides to plant a hidden camera hoping to incriminate Gabby. Rachel's plan hits a snag when she learns Gabby is actually the victim of a car crash that Rachel was involved in years ago and her motives may be tied to the accident.

Watch the Final Episode of 'The Edge of Night' From 30 Years Ago Today

Long-running daytime soap opera The Edge of Night ended on December 28, 1984. The final episode finished a 9 year run on ABC, which followed 19 and a half years on CBS starting on April 2, 1956.

"I would probably still be playing Raven if the show had stayed on the air," actress Sharon Gabet told Serial Scoop in a recent interview. "I loved her and I loved the cast and crew."

Gabet also told us about life on the set at the end.

"It was a sad and melancholy time. Many in the cast were unhappy with the story lines that came with the writer change and we went from that to cancellation. There's nothing worse for an actor with a good job to hear it's over."

Maurice Benard Renews Contract with 'General Hospital'

Emmy winning actor Maurice Benard confirmed via Twitter he has renewed his contract and will remain on General Hospital.

The actor offered no details regarding the terms of his new agreement to stay on the show. Benard has been playing mob boss Sonny Corinthos on the ABC soap opera since 1993.

Booth Colman Dead at 91

Booth Colman
Television, film and stage actor Booth Colman died December 15 at the age of 91. He died in his sleep at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his niece, Shellie Lavaris, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Colman was born in Portland, Oregon, and got his start in show business as a child actor in local theater performances. He later attended the University of Washington and the University of Michigan, where he launched a radio career. He had a knack for languages and spoke five fluently.

Brandon Stoddard Dead at 77, Known as "Father of the Miniseries"

Former ABC network executive Brandon Stoddard died at his home in Bel-Air on Monday following a long battle with cancer. He was 77.

Stoddard joined ABC in 1970 as its director of daytime programs and then moved on to various positions at the network until he was named president in 1985, a post he held until 1989. Celebrated as the "father of the miniseries," he developed multi-episode shows that were usually ratings grabbers. In addition to Roots and The Winds of War, they included The Thorn Birds, Rich Man, Poor Man, Masada, East of Eden, Roots: The Next Generation and North and South.

'Dark Matter' Announces Cast, Production Begins in January

Production on Syfy's Dark Matter begins in January.
Syfy has announced casting of its newly acquired scripted series Dark Matter, which will feature Melissa O'Neil (Broadway's "Les Miserables"), Marc Bendavid (Bitten), Anthony Lemke (White House Down), Alex Mallari Jr. (Robocop) and Jodelle Ferland (Twilight) with Roger Cross (The Strain) and Zoie Palmer (Lost Girl).

The series begins production in Toronto on January 7.

Created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie (executive producers and writers of the Stargate franchise), and developed with Prodigy Pictures (Lost Girl, XIII), the 13 one-hour episodes are based on the graphic novel "Dark Matter" by Mallozzi and Mullie, published by Dark Horse Comics.

Hulu Acquires Exclusive Streaming Rights to 'Fargo'

Hulu and MGM have expanded their streaming video on demand (SVOD) relationship, the two companies announced today. The deal grants Hulu exclusive streaming rights to this year's Golden Globe nominated and Emmy-Award Winning Miniseries Fargo. All episodes of the first installment of the hit show will be available to stream on Hulu in 2015.

The first installment of Fargo attracted critical acclaim having recently been nominated for five Golden Globes including Best Miniseries, Best Actor in a Miniseries for Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman, Best Actress in a Miniseries for newcomer Allison Tolman, and Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries for Colin Hanks. Fargo also won three Emmys including Outstanding Miniseries and was the year's most Emmy nominated miniseries. The award winning miniseries is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions for the FX Network in the US, with MGM Television serving as the lead studio and worldwide distributor of the series.

HBO Ratings Policy: Will No Longer Release Live + Same Day Ratings as of January

HBO has announced that as of January 1st it will no longer be releasing Live + Same Day ratings information.

Instead, the network will only be providing media outlets with Live + 7 ratings as well as VOD and HBO Go viewership.

Live + Same Day numbers will likely still be available via Nielsen, but early figures historically provided by the network (such as Monday data for Sunday night shows like Game of Thrones and True Detective) will not be released by HBO going forward.

USA Picks Up Hacker Drama 'Mr. Robot'

USA Network has announced its first series pick-up from its existing pilot slate for the 2015-2016 season with a 10-episode order for Mr. Robot (working title). The intense hacker drama from Universal Cable Productions is from writer and executive producer Sam Esmail (Comet) and executive producers Anonymous Content's Steve Golin (True Detective) and Chad Hamilton (Breakup at a Wedding). The series stars Rami Malek (24), Christian Slater (The Adderall Diaries), Portia Doubleday (Her), Carly Chaikin (Suburgatory) and Martin Wallstrom (Simple Simon). The pilot was directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). The series will shoot in New York.

"Mr. Robot could not be more timely and relevant," said Chris McCumber, President of USA Network. "The creative team behind this series has done a brilliant job, taking viewers on a wild ride that leaves them wanting more. Rami gives a masterful performance as a hacker and unlikely hero, alongside Christian, who is perfectly cast as Mr. Robot."

'TNA Wrestling's Greatest Matches' Premieres January 10 on Destination America

Destination America is adding TNA Wrestling's Greatest Matches to its weekend lineup of wrestling programming. An hour-long show, Greatest Matches presents the most remarkable and Unforgettable contests of iconic TNA superstars such as Kurt Angle, Sting, Jeff Hardy, Mr. Anderson, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. TNA Wrestling's Greatest Matches debuts with a three episode mini-marathon on Saturday, January 10 beginning at 10 a.m. ET followed by two new additional premieres on Friday January 16 at 9 a.m.. TNA Wrestling's Greatest Matches will continue to premiere in its regular time slot starting January 17 on Saturdays at 12 p.m.

Banshee returns for its ten-episode third season Friday, January 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, exclusively on Cinemax. The Emmy-winning show is executive produced by Jonathan Tropper, Peter Macdissi, Alan Ball and Greg Yaitanes.

The show stars Antony Starr (Wish You Were Here) as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pa., where he continues his criminal pursuits while enforcing his own code of justice.

Other returning cast regulars include: Ivana Milicevic (Untitled Cameron Crowe Project, Mind of the Married Man) as Carrie Hopewell, a notorious jewel thief who lives in Banshee under an assumed identity with her family, which has recently learned of her criminal past; Ulrich Thomsen (The Celebration) as Kai Proctor, an intimidating, wealthy businessman who believes he is above the law; Frankie Faison (The Good Wife, The Wire) as Sugar Bates, a powerful and wise former boxer and ex-con who is now the owner of the local watering hole; and Hoon Lee (The Blacklist) as Job, a dangerous transvestite computer hacker who assists Lucas and Carrie in their criminal enterprises.

In the new TLC special My Husband's Not Gay – airing January 11 at 10 p.m. ET – these couples share the challenges they face every day and explain why they have decided to live the way they do, and explore how these wives endure this unusual facet in their relationships as they strive to make their marriages work.
As these couples – all friends – navigate their unconventional relationships, their single friend is ultimately looking for a wife but is also attracted to men. And when he goes on a blind date with an unsuspecting woman, he must decide whether or not to reveal his big secret.

Daniel Wu Cast as Lead in 'Badlands'

AMC has cast Hong Kong film star Daniel Wu as the lead of the network's martial arts drama Badlands (working title). Wu also serves as an executive producer on the series.

Badlands is a genre-bending martial arts series very loosely based on the classic Chinese tale "Journey to the West." In a land controlled by feudal barons, Badlands tells the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny (Wu) and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.

"After working together with such a talented team of executive producers, writers and executives at AMC, I am excited for the opportunity to bring this character to life?," said Wu.

ABC Family says goodbye to 2014 with its "That's So Throwback" programming block, featuring Disney Channel classic comedy series Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven, Even Stevens, and original movies The Cheetah Girls and Halloweentown. "That's So Throwback" airs Monday, December 29, 2014 through Friday, January 2, 2015, from midnight to 2 a.m. ET/PT.

Former One Life to Live and Desperate Housewives actor Tuc Watkins, who came out publicly last year, shared his feelings about Modern Family's gay characters, Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet), in a Facebook post on Thursday:

Hmm. I think "Modern Family" is clever, hilarious, even terrifically subtle at times. But, for the most part, I have a hard time laughing at the gay guys. In fact, I kinda cringe. It feels a little bit like the gay equivalent of "blackface." It doesn’t feel "modern" at all.

Sure, people come in all shapes, sizes, etc. So why are we fed such 80s stereotypes every week?

Emmy-winning director Larry Auerbach died on Saturday from complications of glioblastoma in La Jolla, California He was 91.

Auerbach began his career in the late 1940s in Chicago, where he was a stage manager on such early shows as Kukla, Fran and Ollie, Studs' Place and the daytime drama Hawkins Falls.

Following a short stint on Zoo Parade, a live program from the Chicago Zoo with Marlon Perkins, Auerbach went on to become the first director of NBC’s Watch Mr. Wizard.
