Australia’s most popular daytime series Days of our Lives celebrates its 50th year anniversary on television this year. To mark the occasio, Foxtel's Arena channel and the producers of Days of our Lives, Corday Productions Inc. and distributor, Sony Pictures Television, will scour the country in search of an Australian actor to join the cast of this iconic series.

Arena and Corday Productions Inc. are offering the chance of a lifetime to an established or aspiring young actor to play the role of Finn, a handsome, rugged Australian doctor who arrives in Salem to do his residency, specifically to gain skills as a surgeon, working under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian).

The role offered to our new found Aussie hunk will hit our screens for the first time, in a 13 week role which will culminate during the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations in November. Days of our Lives is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Bradys, the Hortons, and the DiMeras, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama. In true Days of our Lives style, our Australian actor’s character will find things are shaken up the first day he arrives.

Brendon Moo, General Manager of Foxtel’s General Entertainment Channels, said today: “Days of our Lives has been an incredible addition to Arena and we are thrilled Corday and Sony has offered us this amazing opportunity and to partner with them to give an Australian actor the chance to star in this iconic series.”

Delighted about this opportunity, Co-Executive Producer Greg Meng said, “As a new member of Arena’s family, we are excited to be able to present this once in a lifetime opportunity to the amazing talent available in Australia.”

Entries opened Monday March 2 via Arena’s website where actors 20-35 years old were able to enter. Over 200 potential candidates have since applied to play Finn.

“It’s the dream,” said 29-year-old garbage man John-Paul Jory. “I remember watching the show with my brothers and sisters in the afternoon so it would be incredible to have the chance to become part of something I grew up with,” he said.

Entries close Sunday March 22 and finalists will be announced via the Arena website. Corday Productions Inc. will cast their new actor from the finalists chosen and the winner will be announced in April. Our actor will then fly to LA to film his episodes airing late 2015 in time with the show’s 50th year anniversary.

Days of our Lives airs Express from the US at 12.50 p.m. weekdays on Arena. Arena provides weekly Days omnibus catch up on Sunday mornings from 7-11.30 a.m. EST.
