Esquire Network continues its bold venture into original scripted programming and will bring the epic tale of “Beowulf” to the small screen in 2016. The inspiration for countless books, movies and comics worldwide, this grand and unparalleled rendition will bring 13 adventure-clad episodes illuminating the supernatural anecdote of Beowulf, a prodigious but troubled warrior who experiences love and loss yet shares a deep binding comradery with his fellow kinsmen. Reimagined for television, the series was filmed throughout England’s vast and breath-taking countryside to set the stage for the story’s fantastical land inhabited by heroes and beasts. “Beowulf” is produced by ITV Studios with Tim Haines and Katie Newman serving as Executive Producers along with James Dormer (STRIKE BACK), who writes the series. It is distributed internationally by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
Matt Hanna, Executive Vice President of Development and Production for Esquire Network said, “‘Beowulf’ exemplifies our commitment to delivering well-produced, vivid and engaging programming to our audiences. We’re thrilled to bring an impressive assembly of artists and visionaries to our lineup when the series unveils later next year.”

"As cliche as it sounds, I have never been this in love in my life!" Morgan told Soaps in Depth magazine. "My heart feels like it's overflowing. I just stare at him for hours and nothing else seems important. I am so thankful for this little man and this crazy adventure called motherhood."
On Tuesday, she posted a new family photo with her husband and baby boy, and it's breathtakingly beautiful.
Morgan looks much happier than her Y&R character, who is in a coma and being held captive by Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John).

John Oliver Reunites 'Days of our Lives' Supercouple EJ & Sami on 'Last Week Tonight'

Her English is impeccable for a teenager who has never seen the inside of a classroom and who spent most of her childhood indoors, in a culture where she told us she was shunned for her disability. How did she learn to speak English so well? “At home with my favorite TV show, Days of our Lives,” she said, beaming. "I watched it for two years. I was waking up at 8 a.m. some days to watch it. That’s a great show. But they killed the main character that I loved!”
On Sunday's episode of Last Week Tonight on HBO, host John Oliver had a surprise for 16-year old Syrian refugee Nageen Mustafa. Mustafa told ABC she sad that the character of EJ DiMera (James Scott) had been killed off Days because EJ and Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) were her favorite couple. To brighten Mustafa's day, Oliver reunited EJ and Sami in a special scene created just for the show.
"She loves Days of our Lives," Oliver explained. "Specifically, she loves EJ and Sami. Even after weeks of total hell, mortal danger and inhumane treatment, Nageen's biggest complaint is that the show actually killed off EJ, who was her favorite character. And, frankly, she's right to be upset. EJ and Sami were magic together. Yes, you could argue that EJ basically blackmailed Sami into marriage and then impregnanted her and then worked for Sami's arch nemesis, Nicole Walker, who he then also impregnated, and then he kidnapped Sami's baby and made her think it was dead so Sami shot him in the head, but you know what, that's the the kind of thing couples do."
Oliver then introduced the Sami and EJ reunion, in which EJ was alive and well and reunited with his true love. Watch the "Migrants and Refugees" segment below:

When polar opposite radio hosts Sonia (Sweeney) and Nick (Scarfe) are assigned to co-host a talk show, their conflicting approaches to love and relationships create a battle of the sexes.
"For men who think a woman's place is in the kitchen, just remember that's where the knives are," Sonia says on the air, as the hosts go back and forth with their bold and opinionated statements.
Though the independent woman and the defiant bachelor spar on air, the common bond of having been hurt in relationships makes them friends in their personal lives. When Nick tries to help Sonia win her ex-fiancé back, however, both begin to realize that their friendly feelings may have grown into something more. As the two radio personalities begin to let their emotional guards down, they must decide if their true love is on the air.

Blind Item: Frontburner Daytime Star Preparing To Leave
The revolving door of daytime soap operas has been rotating on warp speed lately. And from what I'm hearing, another major exit is in the works. Below is all I can reveal...for now:
* This performer's contract is up for renewal in the next couple of months and he/she is telling everyone who will listen it will not be renewed. Currently involved in a major front-burner story, this person's exit would be a huge blow to the plans of the writing team.

"CLIMAX," a show that unfolds like a cross between a soap opera and traditional theatre, is directed by duo Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie, two staples in the Santa Monica theatre community.
Rae Dawn and Mike have electric chemistry, which has lead to consecutive sold-out shows and countless positive reviews from local Los Angeles critics.
The cast of "CLIMAX" includes George Eddington III, Jamie Gallo, Antonia Jones, Dennis Michael and Evelyn Rudie. The show is currently scheduled to run through November 1. For more information and to order tickets, visit santamonicaplayhouse.com.
Besides television and stage, Manning is a successful producer, helping to create the Showtime documentary Kidnapped for Christ, the upcoming documentary about the lives of homeless youth Lost In America, and the documentary An Act Of Love, which premieres next month at the Mill Valley Film Festival.

Elizabeth Hubbard Joins Cast of Award-Winning Web Series 'Anacostia'
Elizabeth Hubbard |
Any day with Elizabeth Hubbard news is a good one, and today there are two new stories to report. The eleven-time Emmy nominee and two-time winner is joining the cast of Emmy and Indie Series Award winning web series Anacostia. She will play Eva Montgomery.
Hubbard, best known for her legendary performances as Dr. Althea Davis on The Doctors and Lucinda Walsh on As the World Turns, will reunite with her ATWT daughter, Martha Byrne, who plays Alexis Jordan on Anacostia so well that she won the first ever Daytime Emmy for the web series drama performance in April. Byrne co-wrote Hubbard's scenes with Anacostia creator Anthony Anderson, and will make her directorial debut in their scenes together.
In addition to shooting Anacostia with Hubbard, Byrne is putting together a docustory about her life.
"Your old actors, like generals, don't fade away," Hubbard told me when I spoke with her last October at the Weight premiere screening in New York City. "I'm ready to act."
Look for Hubbard to debut as Eva when Anacostia returns this fall.

Megan Park and Brant Daugherty in Ungodly Acts. |
When Melissa Cooper's (Park) body is found hanging from a swing set, the 27-year-old's death is initially ruled a suicide. But two weeks later a young man, Adam, comes forward claiming he murdered Melissa on the orders of her husband, Daniel Cooper (Daugherty). Adam says that Daniel is the leader of an end of times religious cult and that Daniel controls every aspect of the followers’ lives. Daniel Cooper denies all wrongdoing in his wife's death, but other members of the “Church of the Blessed Light” claim that the charismatic Daniel indeed has a secret life. Melissa's case is investigated, exploring what really went on behind closed doors in Daniel and Melissa's marriage, whether Adam acted on his own accord, if Melissa was killed on the orders of her fanatical, newlywed husband or, if Melissa was murdered at all. Inspired by actual events.

'Serial Scoop Now' #19: Pierson Fodé and Ashleigh Brewer at 'The Bold and the Beautiful' Pop Up Fan Event in NYC
The Bold and the Beautiful stars Pierson Fode and Ashleigh Brewer chat with Serial Scoop Now host Roger Newcomb. |
"It's nice to see it through their eyes, and not just my judgmental eyes of myself," Brewer said about watching Monday's B&B episode with the large group of fans in attendance.
"I love egging the crowd on," Fode added. "I become a little bit of a ham when people are involved."
Watch our chat with Fodé and Brewer below:
Kassie DePaiva Leaving 'Days of our Lives'
Kassie DePaiva |
Since Days tapes so far ahead, DePaiva will remain onscreen for several more months. She has a big story coming up with A Martinez, who is joining the show as Eduardo, Eve's ex. We also know, thanks to a recent DePaiva interview, that she will be singing on the Days Christmas episode.
Eve's exit will not be tied to the serial killer storyline which has resulted in the deaths of Serena Mason (Melissa Archer) and Eve's daughter, Paige Larson (True O'Brien), with more deaths to come. DePaiva gave her best Days performance last week when Eve found out Paige had been murdered.
There's no word at this point on whether DePaiva's departure was her choice or just part of the cast pruning that's taking place at Days along with all the new additions.
DePaiva is best known for her 20-year run on One Life to Live as Blair Cramer (1993-2013), earning a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 2005. She briefly crossed the character over to General Hospital in 2012. Prior to OLTL, she starred for five years as Chelsea Reardon on Guiding Light (1986-1991). She is also widely recognized for her portrayal of Bobby Jo in the cult film, Evil Dead II.

'Serial Scoop Now' #18: John McCook and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood at 'The Bold and the Beautiful' Pop Up Fan Event in NYC
The Bold and the Beautiful stars John McCook and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood chat with Serial Scoop Now host Roger Newcomb. |
Fans were served a delicious meal before four cast members--John McCook (Eric), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy), Ashleigh Brewer (Ivy) and Pierson Fode (Thomas)--were introduced the a packed ballroom at the Marriott Marquis. The stars answered questions from the festive crowd then everyone settled in to watch Monday's episode of B&B, a special treat for the fans in attendance who also got to watch the cast react, sometimes hilariously to what they were seeing on screen. No one was more pleased with himself than Fode, who stood up and egged on the crowd when Thomas leaned in to kiss Nicole (Reign Edwards).
After the episode finished, supervising producer Casey Kasprzyk joked that Ridge and Caroline had boarded the Forrester jet and were headed to New York. He then introduced Kaye and Godfrey, who walked in wearing the same clothes their characters were married minutes earlier. This was a very realistic wedding reception, with many familiar touches. Toasts were made, the scrumptious wedding cake was cut, the happy couple shared a first dance, and the bouquet was tossed (just over the outstretched arms of "Ivy" who was part of a large crowd vying to make the good luck catch).
At one point, Wood jokingly called Godfrey her new mommy, indicative of the lighthearted atmosphere of the event as well as the camaraderie among the cast.
After fans finished off their cake, the six B&B cast members began an autograph and photo session with the enthusiastic attendees.
At the end of the day, Serial Scoop Now was able to get a few minutes with the cast of the world's most-watched soap opera, who were fittingly visiting NYC during Fashion Week. In the first of three group interviews, we chatted with McCook and Wood about The Bold and the Beautiful feeling like a family, the old CBS Daytime variety shows, recent projects and New York theater. Check out the spoiler-free chat in our latest episode (1.18) below:

Shawn Christian Leaving 'Days of our Lives'
Shawn Christian |
It looks like the controversial doctor--beloved my some viewers and maligned by others as overexposed--will not be making it out of Salem alive. But unlike the recent deaths of Serena Mason (Melissa Archer) and Paige Larson (True O'Brien), Daniel will not be a victim of the serial killer; he's going to the great beyond in another way.
Daniel is not the only character who will be killed off in a non-serial killer way. Stay tuned for more on that, plus details of another major exit from Days coming in early 2016.
In addition to his role as Dr. Daniel Jones on Days, Christian has starred in As the World Turns as Mike Kasnoff, and Summerland as Johnny Durant. His other credits include Pacific Palisades, Boston Legal, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, 90210 and Venice. Since taping his last Days episode, Christian has been busy working on the thriller Last Seen in Idaho.
