'Days of our Lives' Star Eric Martsolf Teams Up With Holly Norman To Record "Days Go By."

Eric Martsolf is best known for portraying Brady Black on the hit soap Days of Our Lives. But long before he was making TV audiences swoon, he was making music. Although acting has become his full time job, Eric has always had a passion for music.  So, he recently teamed up with longtime friend, Nashville singer/songwriter Holly Norman, to record a brand new duet penned by Norman, “Days Go By.”

In the late 90’s, one of Eric’s musical ventures included being a featured performer in a theater at Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s nationally recognized theme park in Pigeon Forge, TN.  It was there Eric first met and worked with Holly Norman, performing together in a 50’s themed show, Let The Good Times Roll. After leaving Dollywood, Eric continued to pursue music, but his acting abilities landed him a major role on the soap opera Passions. Currently, he plays the Brady Black character role on Days of Our Lives, for which he won an Emmy Award in 2012 for best supporting actor.

Almost 20 years went by since Holly and Eric had seen each other or spoken. Then by fate they were reunited. Eric was invited back to Dollywood in August 2015 to participate in a charity/fan event. Holly was contacted by the organizers to surprise Eric for the event, as sort of a homecoming celebration. During the event, Holly and Eric ended up reconnecting and reminiscing about the paths their lives had taken, Eric’s to California and Holly’s to Nashville. They talked about their love of music and singing and Holly told Eric about a duet song she’d written that she’d been looking for the perfect male to sing on with her. Eric jumped at the chance to be able to come to Nashville and record. So, in October 2015 while Eric was in Nashville for a DOOL fan event, he carved out some time to record his vocals at Funhouse Studios on legendary Music Row – and there, magic was made!

The song, “Days Go By”, is about a couple parting ways; something Eric relates to all to well since his Days character Brady can’t seem to settle down with the right woman. The song really showcases the beautiful, effortless blend of Holly and Eric’s vocals. With Holly’s sweet, angelic tones and Eric’s deep, rich voice, the song is certain to capture audiences and paint a vivid picture of a love gone wrong. Holly and Eric are excited to be working together again and hope to make this the start of something special.

The song is now available on iTunes at http://apple.co/1RXzBOX and on Amazon at http://amzn.to/1RHnDtA.

Ashley Jones Joins 'General Hospital'

Actress Ashley Jones, best known as Bridgett Forrester on the Bold and the Beautiful, has been cast on General Hospital as a woman who shares a very interesting connection to Kristina Corinthos (lexi Ainsworth).

Jones is portraying Parker Forsyth, who Kristina offered to sleep with for better grades in her class.

Jones tells Soap Opera Digest, "They were so secretive about it that I've been scared to tell anyone," grins the actress. "They made it very clear that [Parker's gender] was a reveal and they didn't want me to give it away." Jones has shot two episodes so far, and is thrilled to be part of the show. "I've watched GENERAL HOSPITAL over the years, so it's just a pleasure to see all these people on set and in and out of the makeup room."

Nominees will be revealed in 30 categories, including the newly added Best Original Song and Best Sound Design.

Clare has been nominated for five ISAs over the past five years, winning in 2014 for her work on the drama Clutch. She played young Abigail Deveraux on Days in 2003-2004.

'GH' Star Maurice Benard On The Corinthos Family: 'It is the best family on TV daytime or primetime'

General Hospital stars Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Laura Wright (Carly) recently sat down with Michael Fairman to discuss what is happening in the lives of Sonny and Carly in the fictional town of Port Charles.

One interesting nugget I came across in the interview, is how Benard and Wright view the importance of the Corinthos family on General Hospital.

Fairman first brought up the subject by stating, "It feels with head writers, Jean Passanante and Shelly Altman, that the Corinthos clan have become once again this core central family unit of the show."

Wright responded by saying, "As they should be!" Benard took it a step further and declared, "It is the best family on TV daytime or primetime … and a much better family than on Blue Bloods!"

What do you think General Hospital fans? Are Sonny and Carly the heads of the new core family on GH? And what does this mean for the show?

Matt Cohen Joins General Hospital As Dr. Griffin Munro. WIll Elizabeth Webber Find True Love?

As previously reported, Matt Cohen has joined the cast of ABC soap opera General Hospital as Dr. Griffin Munro. Soaps In Depth is reporting that the actor started taping a couple of weeks ago, but details about his character are being kept hush hush for now.

Cohen starred as Aiden Dennison in South of Nowhere. His other credits include How to Get Away with Murder, 90210, Rockville CA and Supernatural.

Cohen will debut as Dr. Munro on GH during the first week of February.

But the question remains, which lucky lady is going to enjoy what Dr. Munro has to offer? I think it's time that Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) ends her obsession with Jason Morgan (Billy Miller), and sets her sights on the sexy new doctor in town.

Herbst is a a beautiful, talented, and popular actress who seems to always get the short end of the stick. She is what I like to call a chemistry magnet, she creates chemistry with any man she is paired with. So why is this character always dumped on? It's time for that to change. Herbst and the viewers deserve more.

Has NBC Renewed 'Days of our Lives'?

According to a new TVLine story, NBC is optimistic a Days of our Lives renewal will happen.

“We’re happy with where Days was this year,” NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt says. “We have a negotiating period that starts in February. Stay tuned.”

NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke is “optimistic” a successful re-negotiation with Days producer, Sony Pictures Television, will take place.

“We’ve been really happy with the show,” Salke says. “I’ve been over there seeing Ken [Corday, executive producer] and the team and the new writers. They’re an incredible group and we love the show. They got a [ratings] bump in the fall for their 50th anniversary. There’s a creative resurgence and exciting storytelling going on right now.”

Although the negotiating period is said to begin in February, a source close to the show tells me that it is a done deal and the popular soap has been renewed. When it is officially announced, I am sure we will all breathe a sigh of relief.
