I'm sure some more questions will come up as we get used to the new board.

I tried to center something and the old tag doesn't do it. Is there a different way to do it or is it just not activated?

Not sure about the "centering" question.

My question is how do replies work........

Does the reply always go to the bottom of all the posts for that topic or can we reply to a certain person's post in the topic? If so how?

Thanks

Ok, that worked. On this board you can us the dohtml command in brackeks "["

You can enter any html code inside the dohtml in brackets and /dohtml in brackets.

For example, that's how you can post a YouTube video.

For centering, I typed "center" insdie a "<" type bracket because that is how the html would look.

Yes, the reply goes to the bottom. If you are replying to specific comment you can click on the "Quote" button and quote the text you're replying to which makes it easy to follow once you've added your comments.

Linda you need to include the dohtml part which seems like kind of a pain so I don't predict seeing much centered  Can it not be added to the top like quote, image etc.?

To understand how to do it, my suggestion is to quote Roger's post like I just did and then look in the box where it is quoted to see how it is done. Or you can do the same with what I am doing. Now did I really confuse you Linda? :shutup

[dohtml]<center>Center text</center>[/dohtml]

ETA I couldn't figure out how to center an image however.

I've had that same question. I guess after a while we'll get used to this around here. I have just looked at all the new smilies and really like this one :tomato

It took me awhile to figure out how to do things and there are still things I need to work on, but it DOES get easier. :2thumbs

For one thing, make sure you're posting in Normal Mode, not Guided Mode, you'll see those choices to the left. That was really messing me up.

Also, when you post, say you want to Bold something. You can click on the B up above the posting area, and when you're done typing what you want bolded, you just click on where it says "close all tabs" and it puts in the undo bold code for you. That took me awhile.

I think in the signatures, you don't have center as an option, anyway I didn't figure it out, but may try with Roger's code... :hmm

OK, I'm still not getting this center thing.   I have tried every combination of symbols known to man, I think.... of course, this isn't something that will stop the world from turning, but for my own self-respect, I'd like to gain the upper hand on it.... :P

I can't even figure out how to do a quote. I'm going to need step-by-step instructions. Sorry.

Linda:

See those icons to the right at the top of each post. One says "Quote" the other says "Report". "Edit" appears if it's your post.

Hit that icon. Then scroll down to just above the row of smilies and you'll see all of the post you want to quote from. And edit as you wish!

To quote, click on the quote button on the post you want to quote. It will then automatically go to the reply box. Unlike most other boards I have seen, the text you are quote is not in the reply box. However if you scroll down below the box for the smilies, you will see a box with the text you are quoting in there. You change anything in there if you don't want to quote the whole post and rather just respond to a portion of it. You write your reply in the empty box at the top that looks like the normal reply box. The reply button to enter the post is below the quote box.
