So men are 22%, Women 18-49 are 26% and Women over 50 must be >50%. So who are they writing this show for?

None of the above? I would love to see more breakdowns on these demos like what part of the country, median income, etc. Shows like Gossip Girl don't have many more viewers than ATWT but they obviously have the "right" viewers to advertisers.

Some days I think they write the show thinking we're all idiots who don't care about details or things making sense. But if they want any and all of these demos to go up significantly they are going to have to change that.

Didn't they use to give over 50 demos even though the advertisers don't care? Knowing that the average age of the ATWT viewer is 55 that certainly does have to be over half the viewers.

The first thing all soaps need to do is concentrate on keeping the viewers they do have and then worry about getting new viewers. It's a lot easier to drive the long term viewers away than it is get new viewers. Just look at Days. they picked up so many during the Olympics but obviously none of them stuck around.

Even though most of us hated Sofie, I just can't believe that women of any age want to watch a young pregnant woman get murdered or all the babies dying stories that JP writes.

I think both men and women would prefer to watch smart and STRONG characters who aren't constantly dumbed down just to make a plot work.

I agree, Roger. ATWT writers have been very "dark" lately when it comes to babies and happy marriages. You know, I think there are plenty of conflicts that occur naturally in a happy marriage. They don't all have to be centered on wives or husbands that sleep around or babies who have questionable parentage.

Soap writers seem to be consumed with the sensational, and they've lost track of everyday people. I like to watch a few characters struggle with some of the same problems I have and overcome them. That serves as a catharsis for me. Others may feel differently.

I just wish TPTB wouldn't keep adding new characters and moving the old ones to recurring status. It's getting to the point that I have to explain to my elderly mother everyday exactly WHO that person on the screen is and how he/she ties into the story. Sometimes it's hard because I can't remember, either! That's when it's bad!!!

No more WTD plot schemes! (Do you hear that JP?) Give some babies a loving daddy and mommy! Let the conflict come in finding the money to feed them! We ALL have that problem to deal with when we shop for groceries!!!

Remember when Gwen had her baby? She was dead broke! Will came to her rescue and helped her scrape by and provide for that baby for awhile (before TPTB decided that the baby really belonged to Craig and Rosanna!) I loved to watch Will and Gwen during those times. It was real and the problems were typical of young people who had babies too young.

I'm just saddened by the quality of writing on the show today. Some of our clever writers here on We Love As The World Turns message board could do a far better job!

Couldn't some of them get hired???
