The endless rescue operation of Timmy, uh, Ethan, :devil drags on. :pullhair Pretty much the same stuff, although Emma seems to have vanished and Paul's cleaned up and trying to get Meg to go to sleep. They just had the same argument they had yesterday about how Paul needs to be totally honest with Meg. Now Meg's trying to get Paul to tell her a story about James so she can go to sleep. I could go to sleep myself. :sleep

Ethan hasn't made a sound for an hour so Holden's determined to go down into the pit again. Lily wants him to do it, even though Mike says that Holden could kill both Ethan and himself. Lily just wants her baby back... :rolleyes Later, though, after Faith clings to Holden pleading with him not to die, Lily changes her mind and decides she couldn't survive if she lost both her baby and her cheating husband. :shutup

Janet's in Emma's kitchen and has cooked up a storm, including a big batch of mac and cheese. Jack brings Carly to the farmhouse to get something to eat but she doesn't want to stay there, and even less when she sees Chef Janet. Jack stops her and they have another of those teasing conversations that get the hopes of the carjackers up... :biggrin

Paul slips away from Meg and heads over to the site. But Meg's been faking sleep and rushes after him... when she gets to the site, though, she can't find Paul and asks Mike if he's seen him. Mike says no and he doesn't want to see Paul, because this is all Paul's fault. Little do they know that Paul, with a huge coil of rope hanging on his shoulder is listening to every word. Before you know it, Meg has told Mike what Paul told her about Derek the loan shark and Paul... :rolleyes

Faith is asking Holden not to be so mad at Mike, and Holden realizes he's been being selfish, and says he'll try. Later, Carly, who is just got to be Oakdale's wisest woman all of a sudden, :devil gives Holden advice on how to help Lily. Since Lily won't go home, Holden should bring the home to her... so Holden shows up with a tent and sleeping bag and says he'll set it up so that Lily can rest and still be near to Ethan. Lily is grateful for Holden's idea, even though he tries to admit that it wasn't his...

Somehow, the experts and their equipment, that have to be flown in, have run into some weather, so they won't be there until the next morning... :eek Doesn't Chicago have some experts and equipment? Couldn't they drive to Oakdale? :pullhair

Faith and Natalie are going to a movie with Luke. :smile

Before Holden can set up the tent, Lily hears a sound she recognizes. She and Holden listen and smile. It's the sound of Ethan sleeping... (I guess the kid snores... :lol )

Unknown to anyone but us viewers, :devil Paul has been skulking around listening to everything, still carrying his rope around. Now, if everybody is gathered around the mouth of the pit, how does he thinkhe's going to get into it unseen? :huh

Holden apologizes to Mike for his behavior. :sleep

Now the tent's set up and Lily asks Holden to stay with her, so he does and they both fall asleep.

Janet and Carly seem to neither one want Jack. :lol :lol as they each try to get him to stay with the other, but Carly wins in the end and Jack stays at Emma's with Janet while Carly takes more food out to the site. I wonder where that food's going, since I never see anybody eating it... :shutup

Carly takes some food to the tent and leaves it outside when she sees Holden and Lily sleeping inside.

Mike tells Meg he's going to mind his own business from now on. :waiting Paul's listening and watching, and even when Meg gets one of her "cramps" Paul doesn't come out of hiding, but rather lets Mike take her home... :rolleyes

I guess that pit is so huge that the tent is set up at one end, and this makes it possible for Paul to hook up one end of the rope to the trusty backhoe, wrap the other end around his waist, and rappels down the pit...

In the kitchen, Janet tells Jack that she can tell that Jack's not over Carly - when they're in a room together, you can feel the heat. Jack tells Janet that his feelings for Carly are like his feelings for being a cop. He loved it, but he can't go back.... as he's saying that, we see Carly letting herself into an empty house... :cry

Holden and Lily are awake and talking about how tomorrow they'll bring home their "miracle baby"... :sleep

Mike's gotten Meg safely home. She says she just needs to rest, and for Mike to go back to the site. Mike says there's really nothing for him to do, and he wonders where Paul is. Meg says Paul's probably somewhere trying to make things right.... Paul is funny and flawed and complicated and she loves him. :heart

Now we see Paul at the bottom of the pit, holding his flashlight, looking around, and shining the light on Ethan. :2thumbs Paul gives Ethan a bottle of water and Ethan takes a drink. Paul tells Ethan that Uncle Paul is going to make everything alright. Ethan falls asleep and now Paul looks around, and in the dirt he finds what James has had him searching for......or so he thinks, but it seems to be an empty box... :hmm

You know, I think the reason we're just not feeling much emotion about Ethan being in the pit is because A. it's dragging on and we're seeing the same stuff over and over and B. because the writers keep shoving this mano amano stuff down our throats with Mike, Holden, Paul, Meg and Lily.

THEN there's St Carly. AND St Janet. Now don't get me wrong, I like when Carly's being a good person, and I get what the writers are trying to portray, but do they always have to just go so overboard with it? A little would go a long way, IMO...
:gaah

Carly is either a saint begging everyone's forgiveness and doing good, or committing crimes and lying her face off and getting into trouble. Maura can play either one amazingly well, but you'd think with such a talent they could find a happy medium with the character.

I'm so sick of Paul/Meg, Holden/Lily, Mike and that damned hole.

A whole group of guys couldn't get Holden down safely, but Paul just ties a rope to the backhoe and jumps down?

Everyone is acting so non-chalantly about it. Where did Lucinda and Luke and Emma go?

Why isn't Jack there still helping?

With Lucinda's BILLIONS and TV coverage, why couldn't they get a team of real professionals there sooner?

The writing is just so terrible. There's no excuse for it, budget problems or not.

And where the hell is Aaron? Is someone going to say they didn't want to interrupt his honeymoon WHEN HIS BROTHER MAY BE DYING?

Again I was LMAO at Paul. Lugging that rope around, literally behind everyone's back.. he looked really silly. He was sweet with Ethan though. :heart

Please God, let Jack act this reasonable and understanding more than just when there's a full moon out. :pray

I haven't been able to watch the last 2 days and it doesn't look like I missed much.

I remember back in the day I used to get so upset if I missed an episode (David Stenbeck, Jake/Molly, early Hal/Emily) now I don't even bother re-watching the recording. I just hit DELETE.
