It was great seeing so many former characters return for Katherine's funeral -- played by the same actors. The casting people do a wonderful job of bringing back former stars, even those who are no longer in show business (like the actress who played Nina).

I also really liked the little touches that show the writers remember how it was ... e.g., Brock still called his mother "The Duchess", and when Nina asked about Christine, she called her "Cricket".

They also made a point of accounting for everyone who wasn't there ... Nina's son, Phillip, was in Iraq; Cricket was in Europe; Brock's daughter, Mackenzie, was in Darfur; and Larry, the ex-con who was involved with Jill at one point, was at a biker rally -- but he managed to send his condolences to the family.

I've watched Y&R for many years, and I really appreciate it when the writers pay attention to the little things like this.

I liked the little things, too, Kara, but honestly, I couldn't just sit and watch the funeral, and then to have the scenes with MrsC/Marge being helped by the bum.... to me it was way over the top.... and I'm one who gets teary at Folgers' coffee Christmas commercials... :shutup

I liked all the small things as well. However, what I couldn't take was having Ana and Devon singing. It would have been much more appropriate to have Danny and Gina sing Amazing Grace since they were once Katherine's stepchildren.

That's an excellent point! To be honest, I usually FF anything involving Ana, especially when she's singing.

I remember hearing Danny & Gina sing together once, and they were terrific. I think it was Christmastime, and they were singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" -- which is a song I normally hate, but I enjoyed it this time because they were so good together. And as long as TPTB were going to bring back Katherine's stepchildren, they should have sung at the funeral.

Oh yeah, I'm sure we're in store for WAY more scenes of Katherine and Murphy (or whatever his name is, Marge's friend) before she finally remembers who she is.

Barb, I also get teary at the Folger's coffee Christmas commercials. :hug

Oh geeze, :lol I totally spaced out, or should I say, blacked out, the singing by those two. I am completely mystifyed as to how tptb could think we would ever believe that they're so extremely talented they have big careers in music ahead of them. :rofl :rofl :rofl
