As the World Turns is releasing another novel. The Man From Oakdale written by the character Henry Coleman (Trent Dawson) will be released on January 6th. In 2006 the novel Oakdale Confidential was released. The writer was anonymous and this was integrated into the show. It turned out that Katie Peretti (Terri Colombino) was the one who wrote the book. A new edition, Oakdale Confidential: Secrets Revealed, was released later that year. The real writer of all three books is Alina Adams. She's a Creative Content Producer for As the World Turns and Guiding Light. She also wrote the Guiding Light novel Jonathan's Story. Synopsis of The Man From Oakdale: Henry Coleman is Oakdale's self-styled Cary Grant. Why shouldn't a man who's as smooth as a martini and blessed with a wit that's just as dry write a novel starring himself and his gorgeous girlfriend, Vienna Hyatt? In this sophisticated adventure, Coleman puts all his investigative skills to use as he searches for a missing young woman...and dares to reveal some of Oakdale's most closely-held secrets, including a few of his own. Desperate to locate her missing granddaughter, high-powered businesswoman Lucinda Walsh hires Henry Coleman for the job. Two years ago, Lucy Montgomery kidnapped her infant half brother Johnny in order to protect him from their manipulative father, Craig Montgomery, and Johnny's equally ruthless uncle, Paul Ryan. Now, both Craig and Paul are hot on Lucy's trail and it's up to Henry and his socialite girlfriend, Vienna, to find the lovely fugitive first. Sweeping from the sun-drenched South American Republic of Montega to a nobleman's dangerous lair in Sweden, and infiltrating the United Nations in Manhattan, Henry and Vienna discover that the tentacles of Lucy Montgomery's life on the run reach far and wide. With assistance from Margo and Tom Hughes, Sierra Esteban, and Gwen and Will Munson, and challenged by the escalating tensions in their own romantic relationship, they confront enemies both seen and unseen who are locked in a power struggle with Lucy and Johnny at its center. But when Vienna herself disappears, Henry must race against the clock to complete his mission so they can both make it back to Oakdale alive. |

It could be a fun read, but I sure hope it's better written than the first one, which is the only one I read and I had to push myself to finish it...

It actually doesn't sound to bad, in my opinion. I find it out that Gwen and Will are in the book, even though they are no longer on the program. Paul never really showed an interest in Johnny anyway, once he was returned to Dusty and Jennifer. Oh well, since it's a book, it's not supposed to reflect the actual storyline of the show I guess. I'll have to flip through it at the local B&N. If I like it, I'll definitely take it home! |

A book about Lucy and Johnny? The ATWT marketing folks are real geniuses. |

Word came out I think last spring that "Henry" would be writing a book so I think that explains why they might involve Paul rather than Dusty. Dusty was dead lol. I think it also shows that it was intended all along for Craig to return and continue his feud with Paul despite the fact they said there was no more story for Craig. I do find the Gwen/Will mention odd as they must have known at that time that Jesse and Jen were leaving the show. Sierra who is also mentioned would make sense. But it would have made more sense to involve Barbara. The last book was pure fluff. I'm guessing it sold well though if they are doing this one. I'm certainly not pluning down $23.00 though to read about Lil Lulu. I find it odd that the book isn't available until Jan. 6 but the story seems to start next week when Vienna will learn what Henry has been up to and Lucy will return by Christmas. |

Judy, if I'm remembering right from the first book, there were things in it that had already happened by the time I read it, and I read it soon after if came out...

What I'm thinking though is if the story is starting next week and I would think would then just intensify, wouldn't you want people to be able to actually purchase the book you are promoting? It seems to me when they did hte last one and had the big book release on the show, that the book was then in stores at the same time. Why talk about the book on teh show before you can even purchase it? I also would have thought they would want it out for Christmas sales bot maybe that is dictated by the publisher or agreements with bookstores as to how many can be released at a time. |
