Lucinda's bored to tears so Brian decides they should go to the museum.  As they're talking about it, and Lucinda's getting romantic with Brian, Luke walks in and is uncomfortable seeing how much Lucinda loves Brian. She goes to get her coat and Luke talks a little bit to Brian about how he doesn't want his grandma to get hurt.  Noah stops bye with some Christmas gifts and Luke tells him about Brian coming on to him again. Noah believes Luke, and the two talk about Christmas, last year and this year. Luke invites Noah to come out to the farm on Christmas. Noah likes the idea of that, but says he needs to do more shopping, so they decide to head to the mall. First, though, Noah wants to give Luke the Christmas gift he has for him. It's a watch, and it's engraved. The two guys  and head for the mall.Vienna's been shopping, too, and she comes back to the hotel with a few gifts for other people and several for herself.  She spots something under the bed - a box with a stack of papers in it. She examines it, and the next time we see her, she's hurriedly leaving the hotel.  Lucinda's gotten herself and Brian off track from the museum outing and they've ended up at WW.  Lucinda wants them to have sex right there, but before anything can happen, they're interrupted. It's Vienna, and she's got something to show Lucinda. What was in the box she found is a book, written by Henry. The Man From Oakdale. Vienna thinks it's very good, and even though Lucinda and Brian realize it's written around Lucy and Johnny and Lucinda, etc Lucinda still wants to publish it. Brian thinks this is a bad idea, but nobody's listening to him.  A strange woman comes into the diner and wants to talk business with Henry. They go over to the Lakeview, and it turns out the woman is wanting to publish Henry's book. Not much time passes and Vienna, Brian and Lucinda walk in, and Vienna is telling Henry that Lucinda is going to publish his book.  The women, Maggie, is not pleased, in fact she says, "the hell she is!" Henry admits to Lucinda that he's got to stick with Maggie.Later, Vienna and Henry are drinking champagne in celebration. He tells Vienna that he wrote the book over the Summer when she had left him. He quotes the inscription to her that will be in the book. Vienna decides this would be the time to go upstairs and play sexy editor and naughty writer. Off they go....  Casey answers the door to find Maddie standing there!  He's shocked to see her and uncomfortable. She can tell that he doesn't feel the same way about her as he used to. Ali stops in to ride to work with Casey and Maddie immediately gets jealous, thinking they're a couple. Maddie leaves and Casey and Ali go to work, where they talk about how things stand between Casey and Maddie... Casey says he feels he's not good enough for Maddie, and isn't into all the romance and happy endings that she wants...Maddie walks up to Noah and Luke at the mall, as they're kissing. She's happy to see them, and bursts out, "So you're really gay!?" The three talk awhile. Noah's glad to see Maddie, Luke is again being bitten by the greeneyed monster. Noah invites her to come with them to the New Year's Eve bash at Metro, and she agrees. Later, Luke admits he thought it would just be him and Noah on New Year's Eve. Noah is surprised to realize that Luke is jealous of Maddie!Luke talks about the past how he walked in on Noah and Maddie in the hotel room in Branson, and how much Maddie and Noah have in common. Noah tells Luke that it's Luke he loves, and who he wants to be with. Although they have a lot to work out, there's no way that Noah could feel for Maddie what he feels for Luke. Then he kisses Luke and asks him if he believes him. A very happy Luke says yes... Lucinda says she's tired and she and Brian go upstairs at the Lakeview to his room that he has until the end of the month. Inside, Lucinda lets Brian know she's ready to consummate their marriage. Brian tells her, "you don't want to do this..." He doesn't want her to have sex just because she wants to prove she's still a sexy woman. He tells her that he loves her and wants to take care of her, and asks her to let him hold her... Lucinda agrees, but looks pretty confused... Casey goes on break and finds Maddie at Java. He sits down with her and apologizes for being so cold with her earlier, and says he wants to make it up to her. They talk about dinner and a movie later... Maddie says it sounds like a date, and Casey says it is, as long as you say yes... she says yes, with a smile...  At the hospital, Ali gets a text message, "can i trust u" and it's from lm... Ali wonders who lm is and then it dawns on her.... Lucy Montgomery! A good show, I thought, today, but gosh, I really feel for Lucinda!   Of course you know that the road won't be smooth for Luke and Noah. numaddie is okay, but I miss oldmaddie.

As soon as I saw nuMaddie, I missed oldMaddie. I really liked her, I liked her with Henry, I liked her with everyone actually. This one's going to take a little getting used to for me, more so than some of the other newcomers. |

I think it's because oldmaddie was really just so nonstereotypical in her looks and actions, and this gal, while she seems to be a pretty good actress, and attractive, is just more typical in her appearance..

The lucinda/brian thing is not working for me. I don't want to see Lucinda get hurt. In fact, w/o someone like John Dixon on the canvas to comfort her when she finds out about Brian, I am not sure I can handle watching this. I sense it is going to be ugly. |

NuMADDIE...seems atypical for a teen soapie. Another BAD thing with her introduction was the sound was soft during the CASEY/MADDIE stuff. It also seemed like JADE and MADDIE repeated their entrances in a sense. It is good seeing some NUKE moments but this old 3 way business with MADDIE and NOAH and LUKE is going to be very tiring. I was impressed with NOAH. With MADDIE as the newbie...NOAH seemed more seasoned and professional in bringing her into the show. BRIAN is going to definitely mess up LUCINDA in this business. The writing is on the wall. |

I know tptb have given reasons why their gay characters do not have sex but its getting real tiresome. Luke and Noah were alone at Lily's and while they were romantic and kissed there was nothing to stop them from going further. Even if Noah had sex with Luke just to keep him from being jealous of Maddie it would be the next logical step!  While Luke has been like a ken doll with (how can I put this?) no anatomy, Brian's been the same way always being seen in a suit. While I can see how a guy who is hiding his sexuality might avoid sex, I'm sure Brian could fake it for Lucinda's sake. Even if he tried and did not succeed it would be better than stringing her along. But it seems also tptb are afraid to have gay sexuality shown to the same extent they show straight couples. Brian and Lucinda's marriage could still fall apart in the end but at least there would be some passion in the meantime. Nuke deserves some passionate lovemaking after all they and us viewers have endured. Instead of seeing Brian and Lucinda cuddling I'd rather see Lucinda go back to work and be so distracted that she doesn't realize her husband is gay! Even if she doesn't go back to work suing Henry for libel might be fun.
