Maddie's hanging around Metro waiting for Casey to show up, and she's getting nervous. Noah reassures her, and she decides to head over to the Lakeview just to see how the dinner Casey's having with his parents is going...

Up in Lucy's hotel room, Ali's managed to call Lucy and tell her not to come back to the room until she calls her. Then, Casey and Ali have kind of a comedy of misunderstandings as Ali can't seem to just say no to Casey, and things are advancing, step by step, until finally Ali pulls away and puts a stop to things... Casey's disappointed, but not angry, but he really wants to know what's going on...

At a point when Casey and Ali are yelling back and forth to each other, Maddie's outside the room, listening. She picks up on the fact that they're making out, and is heartbroken and goes back to Metro... :waiting

Luke walks in on Lucinda and Brian having an argument. Lucinda wants to stay home and make love, and Brian wants to go to Metro. Lucinda stomps up to her room and Luke tells Brian that he shouldn't have marrid Lucinda if he wasn't "up to the task"... :shutup

Although Brian tries, later, to make up with Lucinda, she's not having it, so he decides to go to Metro without her.

Luke goes to Metro and gets cosy with Noah. Tonight is going to be "the night" for them, and they plan on waking up in each other's arms in 2009. :heart Luke notices lipstick on Noah's face, and Noah says that Maddie gave him a little kiss... :hmm

Somehow, Bonnie and Jade are still running into each other and Bonnie's still telling Jade to try and accept the possibility that Derek might be her father. She's also telling Derek that he should want to see if Jade is his daughter, if only because Jade is the daughter of Rose, somebody Derek used to care about... Neither of them is listening to her much. :lol :lol

Jade goes back to Lily and Holden's and Lucinda lashes out at her, saying that she's just a leftover obligation and a nuisance... :shutup Jade blows her off and gets dressed and goes to Metro.

Lucinda, meanwhile, decides she doesn't want to spend New Year's Eve home alone, so she dresses up and heads over to Metro, too... :hmm

Maddie comes to Metro in tears, and Noah quickly takes her over to Al's where he listens to her talk about Casey being with Ali... Luke's talking to Jade, who's apologizing to him for how angry she's been to him.... But Luke's mind isn't on Jade, he's wondering what's going on with Noah and Maddie, and his thoughts aren't good ones....

Luke decides to drink and gulps down some champagne. Brian, who's been doing some gulping of his own, :devil follows Luke out. The two end up on that bench in old town, and a drunk Luke and a kind of drunk Brian and up in a kiss.... one that Luke initiated.... :eek

Just then, Noah and Jade appear, and Noah slugs Brian, who goes down like a sack of spuds, and grabs Luke and drags him away, while Jade stares down at Brian... :waiting

Lucinda shows up at Metro, looking for Brian. Of course, he's not there, and of course, neither are Luke and Noah... :hmm

Casey and Ali are still talking about how they want to be friends, how Ali will tell Casey exactly what's going on as soon as she can, and Casey says that he realized tonight that he wants to be with Ali, not Maddie.... :heart

As Casey gets off the elevator at the Lakeview, he runs into Maddie, who's still crying. She tells him she knows about him and Ali, and although Casey tries to apologize, it's obvious his heart isn't in it... Maddie gets on the elevator herself, (where is she going????? :huh ) and snarls, "Happy New Year, Casey." :shutup

In a few minutes, Ali sees Casey sitting despondantly in the Lakeview lobby, and he tells her what happened with Maddie. The two of them tell each other Happy New Year, very low key... :lol

Lucinda walks up and sees Brian on the ground with Jade next to him. Brian says that he was mugged, and Lucinda takes him away to help clean him up. Jade watches them with a puzzled look on her face...

Luke and Noah get to Lily and Holden's and Luke admits that he's the one who kissed Brian, not the other way around... Noah is hurt and shocked, and asked why, why, Luke did such a thing. Luke says it's because he saw Noah leaving with Maddie.... Noah storms out and a heartbroken Luke reads a letter that Noah had written to him, that Luke wasn't supposed to read until the morning of Jan. 1, 2009... In it, Noah is thanking Luke for being his love, and his future... :cry

At Metro, Bonnie and Derek have put their differences behind them, at least for how, and kiss as 2008 turns into 2009... :muchlove

Well, at least it was a New Year's Eve show... :shutup

Unfortunately, both Lucinda and Luke were unlucky in love. Luke through his own making, and Lucinda, well.... :hmm

Maddie was unlucky, too, or maybe lucky, since why should she be with somebody who doesn't want her? :huh

Casey, well, he was unlucky, lucky, whatever... :lol Even though tonight wasn't The Night for him and Ali, I think it will eventually happen... :smile

I really hate Noah. He is such a judgmental ass. Even though Luke was the one kissing Brian this time, Noah only believed Luke when he caught him and Brian in action. A couple should be able to take it at face value when their partner confides with them. It really bugs me how Noah is never on Luke's side.

I'm ready for Maddie to leave Oakdale again. Besides the fact that I don't particularly like the actress, she just causes too many problems for people.

I want Lucinda to slug Brian when she finds out that he is closeted. I really, really don't like Brian and want him gone from Lucinda's life and far, far away from Luke.

I usually would be mad at Noah for being judgmental but I think tonight really meant a lot to him and he couldn't believe that Luke would do something so STUPID and ruin it.

I really don't understand why Derek is so afraid of being Jade's father.

One good thing about this New Year's show, I didn't have to watch sickening Jack and Janet together. Thank goodness for small favors.

I have to say, that Casey's body is HOT!!

And Maddie must have a room in the Lakeview, since that's still where Henry lives. How these people can afford to LIVE in a fancy hotel, I'll never know.

Today's episode was fast-paced, but smartly done. I give it an A- overall. A lot happened. I loved Jade/Lucinda/Brian/Luke/Noah, and I was going all fanboy during Alison/Casey.

Could care less about nuMaddie, and according to Van Hansis apparently:

Possible coital interruptus again..... :waiting :waiting :waiting :waiting

If it wasn't going to be BRIAN...then it probably could have been MADDIE or it could also be JADE.

Will two same sex people EVER get beneath the same covers on a daytime soap. I only watch OAKDALE and this show has had ALL THE NEEDED PARTS but there will never be a same sex relationship reaching physical contact EVER on ATWT.

I tasted vomit in the back of my throat when BRUKE was allowed to KISS again.

The only possible GOOD that might have emerged from this NYE event was JADE knowing something extra to allow for LUKE to have someone to talk to....and JADE MIGHT be able to state something to push NOAH off of the judgement chair.

The only thing I blame NOAH about is that he slipped out of METRO with MADDIE and all he needed to do was to take an extra minute and excuse himself from LUKE. Just walking away when there was so much potential for a very important evening was the biggest problem created in this episode.

Once LUKE was unable to find NOAH...I wished there was someone else beside BRIAN that he could have turned to but I really do not blame LUKE for his liplock on BRIAN....but LUKE needs to be on the wagon BIG TIME and maybe he needs ANDY DIXON to try and teach him a thing or two.

I have never seen so much angst during NYE before.

Happy New Year......NOT! Never have I ever seen such a depressing NYE episode! The coupling of Casey and Alli was invevitable but the inspiration for today's show was all wrong, covering up why Alli had that room. It was good that she and Casey were still on good terms after the making out was cut short because for a while it looked a lot like when Alli almost slept with Chris! I just wish she could have come clean though she did admit she had a reason for covering up why she was there and would be able to tell him everything soon. But I would have liked for someone to get some action. :gaah

Maddie's purpose on the show became very clear, to act as a catalyst for Nuke breaking up AGAIN and to help Casey decide he wants Alli. IMO Luke's jealousy and behavior that annoys Noah has all been all plot driven. Luke only seems happy and secure when Noah is constantly there to stroke his ego and tell him he loves him. Now the Luke I remember is strong and confident enough to not need someone to tell him how wonderful he is. Luke might have had reason for drinking because of the shock of being expelled and about Brian being closeted, but Luke is NOT so insecure he would get drunk out of jealousy and then kiss Brian. He knows Maddie is not a threat. IT MAKES NO SENSE! :pullhair If Luke and Noah are to have problems why not have Luke be attracted to Brian and sleep with him, then regret it and Noah finds out and then gets mad. But every move Luke makes, every word creates potential for conflict and any time Noah disagrees with Luke, again conflict! :smack It would be nice if these disagreements were not SO dramatic and create such a hopless feeling for Nuke. Or if they finally slept together. Now how long will it take for Saint Noah to warm up again to Luke and suggest sex, Valentine's Day? :brickwall

The only plot point that I found interesting and that did not have me :pullhair was how Jade seemed to notice the closeness between Brian and Luke just before Luke kissed. She tried to keep Noah away but Noah caught them and then punched Brian. Jade seems to have figured out the whole sordid mess which is not surprising. In fact Jade's story is better than what they wrote for her when Elena Goode played the role. I think she had much better chemistry with Van than the current actress. :hmm

I made the mistake of watching and I thought it was a horrible NYE show. Just like Christmas Eve, absolutely no happiness and there should be some romance on NYE. The only part I enjoyed somewhat was Casey/Ali. I think they have potential but the writing for them was bad, probably because this whole bone marrow thing is ridiculous.

Also Liz Hubbard and Van were the only 2 actors on that had been with the show 2 years or more. That's crazy! If people haven't been watching and they tune in over the holidays it would be good if they see some familiar faces.
