Brian's back, at WW to collect his stuff, that Lucinda just happens to be shredding. They have a bittersweet conversation about their feelings for each other in the past, and what, if anything, was left.... Despite Brian wanting to leave things on a better note, Lucinda really doesn't want anything to do with him, and sends him on his way, handing him the trash can with the shredded remains of his paperwork... ![]() Meanwhile, at Java, Noah and Luke are giddy after spending the night together at Noah's room. Nice that the roommate is on terminal break, as Noah put it. Jade's with them, and she's being pretty harsh about Lucinda, wondering how in the world Lucinda didn't pick up on Brian's gayness...Lucinda calls Luke and tells him that Brian had stopped by WW and Luke decides to go there to try and get his relationship with Lucinda back on a better footing. Alison, sporting a new haircut, short, is giving Casey the cold shoulder at Memorial, she's still bent out of shape about the AC/DC concert gone wrong. Casey's his usual clueless self trying to figure out what's going on with her. The gal who ended up with the tickets walks in, so at least Casey knows about the tickets, but not much else, when Ali flounces out... Margo gets a call telling her that Rodriquez escaped and is probably heading for Oakdale! She starts trying to locate Bonnie and Jade. Bonnie's at Lily's talking to her about the situation between Derek and Jade. Both of them wish that the two of them could get to know each other, and find out for sure whether or not Derek is Jade's father. Derek's gone to Metro looking for Bonnie and Rodriquez is there with a gun. He ties up Derek and calls Jade, telling her he's at Metro and has Derek and she'd better get over there...alone! Margo gets to Lily's and tells Lily and Bonnie about Rodriquez and they're worried about where Jade might be... She rushes out, and Casey, realizing that something's wrong, goes after her. At Metro, there's a confrontation, of course. Derek gets shot, and Casey tries to talk Rodriquez down, saying that he's been in prison too... He tells Rodriquez, "You just shot a man!" and R says, "I hear it gets easier..." Casey manages to send a text to Margo, saying "Metro" and then Casey makes a grab for the gun and is knocked to the floor, unconscious. Now it's just Rodriquez pointing the gun at Jade, who's still talking like her life depends on it, which it does. Casey comes to and makes a grab for Rodriquez's leg and knocks him down and the gun flies across the floor and Jade grabs it and just then Margo, Lily and Bonnie, along with some cops, burst in. Rodriquez is taken away and everybody else goes to Memorial. Derek goes into surgery and comes out okay, and Alison is running around being helpful, but when she sees Casey and Jade hugging, she goes back into insecure mode... ![]() Bonnie and Jade are at Derek's side, and everybody's warm and fuzzy and Derek says he thinks it's time to find out if he's actually Jade's father... ![]() Lily tells Jade that she wants her to know how much she means to their entire family. ![]() Bonnie and Derek get closer as Bonnie sits by his bed... ![]() Casey and Margo have a moment and then Casey goes looking for Alison. She's checking out his injury and they're about to kiss when Jade bursts in, wanting to take Casey to lunch... a real buzzkill for Casey and Ali.... ![]() While Luke's at WW talking to Lucinda, Brian shows up at Metro and Noah tells him that he and Luke are together. Brian's happy to hear it, and says that "now I can finish this on a happy note".. he leaves, and Noah is worried about Brian's state of mind, so he follows Brian back to The Lakeview. Inside, a weary Brian sets down his trash full of paper shreds, and picks up a bottle of pills... he's tearful... Noah pounds on the door, but Brian tells him to go away. Noah calls Luke and explains things. Luke says he'll be right there, and tells Lucinda about Brian and asks her if she wants to come to the Lakeview. Lucinda says no, and Luke leaves, but first asks Lucinda how she'd feel if Brian really did harm himself and she could have stopped it... Brian opens the door to Luke and Noah and a really good conversation takes place. Luke and Noah relate their experiences with realizing they were gay and dealing with it, while Brian listens but says that for him things were so different, it was a different time in society.... Brian has still not really ever admitted/said he's gay... Luke finds the pills and asks Brian if he was going to use them and Brian denies it.... the more Luke talks, the more angry Brian seems to get, and he's yelling and at the point of utter frustration, and says, that it was impossible to just be honest and say, "I'm gay!" At that point, Lucinda appears in the doorway behind him and says, "Darling, I'm so happy you could finally say that..." ![]() There's kind of a gap and things are calm, Noah and Luke leave Lucinda with Brian, who's on the phone with Caroline, his first wife. She knows a therapist in Chicago he can see. Lucinda is happy for him, and Brian says he feels lighter... Lucinda hands him her wedding ring and tells him that she was happy with him for awhile, as he was with her. She doubts she'll ever find love, but Brian says that any man would be blind not to love her.... ![]() What a show today! I absolutely :heart'd the whole thing. The dialogue was just outstanding, and the acting was, too.... I even liked Jade. ![]() Elizabeth Hubbard brought it, and so did Van Hansis... not to mention the actor who plays Brian. ![]() I'm glad we got some closure on this chapter. |

Lucinda was awesome today, with Brian, then Luke, and then Brian again Elizabeth Hubbard is terrific!!I liked Brian in many ways and am so disappointed that his character was written to be out of Lucinda's life so quickly and why. It's a shame, because she deserves some romance mixed with a compelling business story, and Brian seemed to offer some of both. It was a long road to bring Luke and Noah together... I have always loved Lucinda and Luke's relationship, and their adult one is realistic and so well written and acted. I really do not like nuJade at all but today's story was very well done, if not a bit zippy. In the blink of a gunflash, things propelled forward. I'll take that as a good sign in this case. I like Derek and Bonnie together. I also liked Bonnie and Lily's conversation but it also reminded me that I missed Martha Byrne a LOT. I still have a lot of trouble with Noelle Beck as Lily now... She's certainly talented but the minute "Rose" is mentioned, I just can't connect her with the role at all. ![]() I am enjoying Casey and Ali a lot I know it can be a bit frustrating watching 2 characters hit & miss so much but so far, I like how their relationship is developing and the speed and dialogue around it. The actors are doing a good job, too. Margo... her hair looked nice today! She and Casey amuse me because she's so clearly having trouble with him being not who she thought he would be at this point in his life but still loves him and wants him to be happy. His acts of bravery inevitably land him in her job's orbit, though... Previews... I'm not looking forward to most of that stuff at all.

I loved the scene where Noah told Brian about how he was raised by Winston. At that moment Noah realized that he could've ended up in the same place as Brian. I thought the acting by Lau, Hubbard, Hansis and Silbermann was great. And I love oversharer!Noah: Noah: My roommate is on extended winter break, so... Jade: Oh, and you're taking full advantage. Well, good for you, guys! Noah: Incredibly good! Luke: Nooooah!

Dutchviewer, about Noah the oversharer. That's one thing about this whole "they're finally having sex" thing that's screamed out at me, the fact that it seems as if the whole family, and a big part of the town, is privy to quite a bit of info on the fact...

I wasn't even going to watch but since there was a lot of good feedback, I decided I would. I thought the Lucinda/Luke scenes were very good. I thought Lucinda forgiving Brian was way too rushed. He still broke her heart and even if it was because he is gay doesn't make it easier. I think it would have played better to have her still show more hurt even if she understood it wasn't her. I hated from the beginning what this story did to Lucinda so I'm not at all unhappy to see Brian leave. The other story of the day I just really didn't care about. I did think Marnie's new haircut looks good But too much back and forth of feelings between Casey and Ali without getting anywhere. It just makes zero sense to me that Casey and Jade are suddenly good friends when it used to be they couldn't stand each other. Too plot driven and I can't stand new Jade. This whole story with Jade/Derek just doesn't work for me because there are too many newbies and when I see Noelle Beck talk about Rose, I just can't imagine her as Rose so the whole thing just falls flat. If the show is going to use so many newbies they need to integrate them with more of the existing cast. Casey hasn't been on quite a year yet and while Bonnie has been on over a year, she's hardly been seen so basically is still a newbie. Henry could have been mixed in at Metro or something and I think it would have been better.

They're young, happy and in love... I don't think it's weird they would talk about that with people their own age (Jade). And others (like Holden/Lily) probably know what's going on, but it's not like they're sharing every detail.

Well, that ice cream celebration with grandmother was pretty over the top for me. Having raised 4 kids, I've been privy to some intimate stuff, but honestly, I have no idea when their "first time" was, nor did/do I want to know.

One of the crazy things about NUKE is how IN YOUR FACE their relationship has been. I compare that to the thousands of peoples' stories I have heard and watched and lived...and when I say thousands I mean MULTIPLE THOUSANDS and almost every one of their stories had some very secret unknown first experience....hidden somehow from most of the general even peer type eyes of others. Even though many would rather NOT KNOW or SEE NUKE get acquainted....I applaud VAN and JAKE and ATWT in providing this outlet. Maybe the next coming out story that I hear about will not be shredded in secrecy....but equal to any new young love story. Maybe I will never have to hear another depressed mature gentleman fight his feelings like BRIAN has displayed. I can only hope....... |
