A repentent, hungover Craig stops at Carly's on his way to court for the custody hearing. She accepts his apology for things he said while "under the influence" and then he asks for a favor - he wants her to be a character witness for him. Carly wonders what she could say without perjuring herself. After Carly says she can't say, without certain guarantees, that Craig would be a better parent than Dusty, so Craig rethinks putting her on the stand. Carly tells Craig to go to court and just be himself.... At the farm, Meg and Dusty are getting ready to go to court, as well. Apparently Emma is going to babysit Johnny and Lily is going to look after Eliza.... Dusty's confident that he won't have any trouble retaining custody. Josey goes to Fairwinds to check on Paul, who's not really thrilled to see her. She tries to get him calmed down, and take a step back from Meg and Dusty, but you know Paul... Then he gets a call from his private investigator, who gives Paul some news that puts a smile on Paul's face and sends him shooting out of the house, headed for the court room... ![]() Elsewhere, Katie and Brad are making love AGAIN, and planning future sessions between the sheets (hopefully between the sheets) in their quest for a baby. Then they go over to WOAK and ask Kim if Brad can go back onair. Kim says she's sorry, but Brad's always been more trouble than he's worth at WOAK and his job is no longer available! Brad luckily holds onto his temper and leaves. Katie tells Kim that she wishes Kim would reconsider, after all, Katie and Brad want to start a family...when Kim hears that she gets the idea to have kind of a reality type show with Brad and Katie, and their quest for a baby. Kim promises Katie that it would be "minimally invasive".... ![]() At the courthouse, the first thing Craig does is fire his lawyer and say he's representing himself! Needless to say, everybody's shocked. Now, at this point, Craig doesn't know that Meg and Dusty are married, and neither does Carly, who also showed up at the court...The hearing begins with the judge asking Craig why he thinks he should have custody of Johnny. Craig explains that everything that's kept him from Johnny has been beyond his control, and that he's missed so much of Johnny's life already, and doesn't want to miss anymore... ![]() ![]() Now Dusty tells the judge that he and Meg are married and can provide a stable, 2-parent home for Johnny. Just then, Paul and Josey arrive at the courthouse, and Paul bursts into the courtroom, waving a file of papers. Once things calm down a little bit, Paul presents paperwork that shows that the papers Meg filled out to get divorced were backdated, and thus, her marriage to Dusty wasn't legal! Craig gets a really funny, pleased smile on his face.... ![]() All hell breaks loose with Dusty telling the judge that even if his marriage to Meg isn't legal, they would just remarry as soon as they can. So the judge asks Meg if this is what she wants, to divorce Paul and immediately marry Dusty. She says yes, and goes into kind of a monologue about what a wonderful life they have out at the farm with little Johnny... Paul looks heartbroken and can't believe what Meg's saying.... ![]() Soon, Josey ends up on the witness stand, and Craig questions her about what her relationship was with Dusty. She says they were friends, and Craig asks, "friends with benefits?" So then it comes out that Josey and Dusty were intimate and that Dusty had hinted at possibly marriage... so that Josey was surprised when Dusty and Meg married. She then told about both Dusty and Meg telling her that the reason they'd married was to give Dusty a better chance at custody. ![]() Things aren't looking good for Dusty. Tom has no questions for Josey, and sits down, but Dusty stands up and makes a plea to the judge, which turns into pretty much of a shouting match between him and Craig. The judge says he's had enough, and that his decision has been made easier by the behaviors in front of him... ![]() Katie comes home, and starts to tell Brad about the agreement she's come to with Kim, the reality show thing. Before she can tell him, though, two guys from WOAK show up at the door to begin filming. When Brad starts to realize what's going on, and when Katie fills him in, he smirks and says that things are looking more interesting all the time. ![]() The judge says that since Dusty and Meg have attempted to perpetrate a fraud, he has no choice but to start from scratch. Tom asks what that means, and the judge says that it means he's rescinding the original adoption/custody arrangement and award full custody to Craig. ![]() There's a scuffle between Dusty and Craig, which gets broken up quickly, and Craig says he'll be at the farm in an hour to pick up Johnny.... Dusty asks Tom what they can do, and wants to appeal. Tom says he's got to check things out, but he isn't hopeful. Dusty tells Tom, "please help me keep my son..." and then leaves quickly... Craig chases Carly down and thanks her for supporting him, and says that he's so happy he could just kiss her! Carly says he'd better not... ![]() Dusty lets Josey know that he's not happy with her testimony. ![]() Meg tells Paul that he's betrayed his sister again, by not allowing her dying wishes for Johnny to be carried out. And she tells him to have fun telling his mother that Craig has custody of Johnny.... ![]() I really can't believe that Barbara hasn't been involved in this storyline. |

Thanks for the recap. I can't believe (yet again) that I'm saying this, but I'm glad Craig got custody. The way Dusty has been acting through this whole thing has completely turned me off. The only thing I like about him right now is his hair. The reason I can't belive I'm saying this is because even with all the terrible things Craig has done, the way they've portrayed Dusty this time around, I can't find any redeemable qualities in him. I'm sure I'll regret thinking this way somehwere down the road, but for now, that's the way I see it. And Meg, well, don't get me started......!! |

That's all being done to pimp Craig to try to make him look good and Dusty is just the latest victim. It's been Jack and Paul in the past. It has the reverse affect on me though and just makes me hate Craig more. That custody hearing was such a joke and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Craig paid this judge off. What judge would just take Craig's word that he is the biological father? His name isn't on the birth certificate. He would have to petition the court to even be named the father. And why not ask about where Johnny has been the last few years and why? The best thing had to be Craig saying that nobody would take Johnny from him. Ya wanna bet? That was practically a guarantee that he will lose Johnny in the end.I was happy that Carly didn't fall for his ploy and say he was a good father when she couldn't do that with a clear conscience. And I liked Meg pointing out that Paul had once again dishonored Jennifer's memory and good luck with him telling Barbara that thanks to him Johnny was just turned over to Barbara's worst nightmare, Craig. Paul had such a deer in the headlights look that it hadn't even dawned on him what he was doing. Too bad this story is far from over. |

I was about how really there was so little factual information exchanged during the hearing. ![]() But I have to say, at least for today, I was glad that Craig got custody.

I'm glad that Craig won custody, even if it's just temporary. I've been waiting for a long time to see Dusty have his self-righteous ass set down. Dying wishes shouldn't be honored if they violate someone else's God-given and LEGAL rights. Jennifer didn't OWN that child, and neither does Dusty. Still doesn't mean I don't think Craig is a creep. I just happen to think Dusty is an even bigger one right now. What Paul did wasn't 'right' nor was it smart, but, I was still rooting for him all the way! I just wish he hadn't lost his nerve with Meg at the end though. Whatever bad Paul has done, Meg has not treated him well either. IMO, she deserves to have some spite turned in her direction! Yet again Dusty treats Josie like crap when she's trying to HELP him. She needs to get herself far away from this guy. FAR. |

The trial was absolutely ridiculous. Neither of them should have been awarded an ounce of custody today by the judge, who clearly is as idiotic as the medical staff at Oakdale Memorial or the PD. Craig should have had physical proof that he was Johnny's biological father, for one thing - Craig saying so AND that no one said otherwise should not have been enough for the judge to assume Craig was the father. "Start from scratch" - WHAT THE HE** kind of ruling logic is THAT?And a dying person's wish is not legally binding unless it was in writing. By someone who's quickie marriage is entirely suspect? I love Dusty but wow, it's hard to root for him right now. Craig shouldn't be entrusted with a child - ever, regardless of his way with kids or his DNA. His history has shown that he hurts his children deeply (abandonment, pillaging their trust funds, kidnapping, threats, etc). Cripes, he makes Barbara look like Mother of the Year. Craig is being well acted and I like how he went for full honesty but he sure as heck doesn't deserve custody based on what was presented in court today. The solution for who should raise Johnny in the immediate future? A court appointed guardian, that's who. I actually thought the judge was going to rule that and totally (1) be realistic and (2) give both 'fathers' a chance to get their stuff in order. But no, ATWT is all about who the head writer wants to win, not what would actually make sense or be a good story, IMO.I found the whole thing comical, actually. Paul's "D'oh" (insert Homer Simpson sound) expression at the end pretty much summed it up.I spaced through Katie and Brad.

But really Craig didn't go for honesty. He said he had visitation with Johnny. I wanted Tom to blurt out that was because Craig paid off the judge. Tom knows that because Tom had worked as Craig's lawyer and quit because Craig was so unethical. And he really wasns't honest about where Johnny has been and why. And why didn't Tom get to put on a case? Why was Craig the only one that got to plead his case. Clearly Craig is JP's latest pet but she could be a little less blatant about it. LOL and Josie was hardly trying to help Dusty today when she told why Dusty and Meg got married. And they didn't even bother to swear her in on the witness stand.

She was trying to help by warning Dusty that Paul may try to crash the hearing. It was not Josie's fault that she was compelled to testify and tell the truth. The whole Paul debacle was Dusty's own fault for first letting both Paul and Josie find out about the marriage in such a callous manner and then by arrogantly brushing off Josie's warning. |

Josie is the most sympathetic character in all this but even she seems as desperate as Paul in trying to hold on to someone. OF COURSE the best way to get Dusty would have been to stay out of all this and just wait for his annullment. But she HAS to commiserate with Paul because they're both a couple of "losers" as she said plus if she had not told him the truth about the marriage and had not followed him we wouldn't have had her testimony that gave Craig custody. I still stink if tptb want to have a crazy ruling they shoulda had the "two dads" be forced to share a household like outa some sitcom. If they're not gonna be realistic, at least be campy.
