He's come up with a new martini - the Hopetini. He says that in these hard times, people need hope, and after 2 or 3 of those drinks, they'll have it. Before Carly, or even Henry, tastes it, Craig walks in. He thinks Henry's plan is harebrained, and then after he tastes the hopetini, he KNOWS it's harebrained. Apparently the drink tastes awful. After Henry stalks off, Craig tells Carly that really, Henry wasn't that far off... people do need hope, but any bar can come up with a new drink menu, but how about a new vodka... Since Carly's a creative person, a designer, what if she came up with a great new label. Most vodkas are the same, so, just put her label on a bottle of vodka, and voila! Although Carly thinks that the vodka makers would disagree with Craig's theory that all vodkas are the same, she does think that maybe some of Craig's idea would work.... Craig says they've worked together before and they should be able to do it again... Dusty, in full thug mode, manhandles Josey and yells at her, even after she tells him that Paul's on his way back to Oakdale with Eliza. He insists that she come with him until they find the car rental agency where Paul rented a car.... A distraught Paul calls Meg and tells her about being carjacked. Naturally, Meg just falls apart. Paul promises that he'll get Eliza back.... Next, Paul calls the rental car agency and tells them to call the police and report a carjacking, and to tell them that there's a baby in the back seat. Then, he hangs around the car rental place, and calls Barbara. He convinces her to come to him with a lot of money. She shows up, but not alone. Meg is with her. There's lots of yelling and crying and still no word from any police about the carjacking, they haven't even shown up, in fact, yet Paul thinks that with the money Barbara brought, he can get information. In the middle of all the yelling, Dusty and Josey walk up! Right away, Paul thinks that Josey called Dusty, she denies it, Barbara tells Dusty that Paul was carjacked, Dusty grabs Paul's collar... Barbara yells at everybody to stop, that they all want the same thing, to get Eliza back, and they should put their heads together and get to work. So everybody quiets down and Dusty decides that Paul told the truth about what happened. Now Dusty tries to be in charge, but Paul isn't falling in line. He wants to go to the businesses in the area and give a description of the guy, well, a description of what the guy was wearing... Dusty poo poos that idea.... Dusty says that Paul should turn himself in to the police. Paul tells Meg that if she wants him to turn himself in, he will. Meg agrees that Paul should talk to the police, but really, what does he know... Meg Paul now apologizes to Josey for thinking she'd turned him in to the police, saying that she gave him some time with his baby girl. Everybody heads off down the sidewalk, I guess to find a police station, when suddenly Paul stops and points. There's the car he rented! They rush up to it, but...the car seat is empty! In Oakdale, Katie, now totally obsessesed with getting pregnant, tries to get Brad to have sex with her. He says he will, but only using protection. Katie won't agree to that, so she flounces around making noise while Brad tries to watch tv. Finally, Brad leaves and ends up at the Lakeview, where Henry's sitting and drinking. Brad brings Henry up to speed about Katie's quest for a baby, and Henry tells Brad that if Katie wants sex, give it to her, but take the responsibility himself for birth control. About then, Katie shows up, and Henry leaves. Brad's afraid that Katie's mad at him, but she opens her coat, flashing him, and says no, she's not mad... So they rush home, and Brad asks Katie if her birth control is "in place" and she answers, "it's right where it should be..." so they start to have sex. Of course, in Katie's mind, the right place is in the trash, and that's where it is... Craig has Carly doing shots of vodka and she has to admit they all taste about the same. So Craig says they just need to find a company/distributor, to fill their order of vodka, and make up a special bottle, with their special label, give them lots of shelf space, and voila! By now Carly's had enough shots that she thinks this thing could work. But she warns Craig that there will be no hanky panky between them... Carly and Craig have a few more shots of vodka and Craig tells Carly to close her eyes and visualize... they're trying to come up with a name for their vodka. Craig throws out stuff like, 'how do you feel' 'what do you see' and Carly starts saying, cold, bright, sharp, ice.... then smooth, warm... Craig tells her to think of a movie, and the one that comes to her mind is Dr Zhavago, and from there they get the land of the midnight sun and from that they get the name of their vodka, "Midnight Sun"! So it's time to go home, and Carly calls for 2 cabs, one for each of them.... Now, why do they have to write Dusty like he was today? I was laughing at Craig needing a cab, couldn't he just walk to the Lakeview??? This make a baby stuff is just worthy. For one thing, what made Katie suddenly want a baby? She was fine before, and now, she's just totally focused on that and only that...

Member Posts: 379 Group: Members Member #16 Joined: September 1, 2008	Well, my tape machine finally bit the dust today, and the only few seconds I got to see was when Dusty was going neanderthal on Josie. I am SO sick of this crap. Who the hell does he think he is? And how can the writers keep letting this happen. They're writing women that get treated like garbage and then fall back into line after an apology of sorts from whomever roughed them up that day. This is getting ridiculous in my opinion. And honestly, I just can't stand Dusty anymore. The writers have succeeded in ruining yet another character for me. I may not bother getting a new taping machine......

Probably for the same reason they write every other stupid thing on the show. They're either idiots or fools.

Member Posts: 228 Group: Members Member #465 Joined: December 8, 2008	Dusy has had unresolved anger issues with Paul and Craig for a long time and the writers use this as a source of conflict with them. The problem is its getting real old. NOW his issues include Josie. He never forgave her for channeling Jennifer and he never forgave himself for falling for her. Now she's sympathetic towards Paul which makes her even worse in his eyes. Meanwhile she admits to Dusty that she fell in love with him and he ignores this. With the way he treats her, once Eliza is found, it would not be surprising if she left town. At this rate the only female relationship he has not ruined is with Meg and that's just because she is his "damsel in distress of the moment". Its too bad that tptb are keeping all the characters going in circles instead of dealing with their problems. While it creates conflict it does not move any stories forward or it results in predictable outcomes. Paul is still insane, Dusty is still mad at everyone, Josie loves a guy who doesn't return the love, Katie is still baby-crazy, Casey and Alli can't communicate, Jack is obsessed with Carly and Craig! At least Carly is moving forward with a new business venture with Craig which might actually work. With the only competition in town apparantly coming from the Lakeview, there could be an interesting battle between Carly and Lisa again in the future. Unfortunately by the looks of the previews its Carly having to choose between going to Sage's recital and and a business meeting. Another reason for Jack to chew her out for going into business with Craig! Also from the previews its really clear Eliza is part of black market baby trafficing with Meg and Dusty meeting a guy "buy" a baby(hopefully Eliza)

It won't have any tie to Metro and won't get one person through the doors of Metro. It does nothing to save the business there. Obviously Craig thinks he can make some money from it and have a tie to Carly, something that her being successful at Metro with Henry doesn't do for him. And ultimately I am sure Craig will screw this up as he always does. I don't think the show will ever let Carly be successful and we'll see today it will mess with her family life. I would have much rather seen more interaction between Henry and Carly. Katie's baby obsession is When they don't know what else to do with Katie they put her in skimpy clothes and have her baby obsessed. Thankfully I think at least this round of the Eliza kidnapping will conclude today. Sometimes stories moving at the speed of light is a good thing. Now if we could just lock Paul away in a mental hospital for a few years after this is would be wonderful.

Newbie Posts: 81 Group: Members Member #39 Joined: September 1, 2008	Well as far as I'm concerned it's like deja vu all over again with Craig & Carly - all that's being replaced here is Simon. We've been through this before haven't we? There is nothing new here. As Judy pointed out this vodka business won't be saving Metro. I don't think Carly can go to the bathroom without Craig being there either. All that it takes for Carly to lose IQ points is for some guy (other than Jack) Simon, Cowboy Jack, Holden & now Craig to tell her what she wants to hear as validation of some sort & she looses her guard. I must admit that the only storyline that has me watching is the Jack,Carly, Janet & Craig plot. Not because it's original but the actors are doing really fine work with the material. Not sure how it will all play out ( I have my suspicions) but I am watching. Everything else right now is pure FF material.

Whether the vodka is sold at Metro or in stores Craig will still make a big deal about the launching of the vodka with a HUGE party at Metro so maybe THAT will bring people in. Anyway tptb are too cheap to hire enough extras to make Metro LOOK crowded enough. Maybe they can just make the set even SMALLER, that way it will seem more crowded via optical illusion!

I think it's clear Craig is seeing the vodka as a way that he can make money too and he really isn't worried about Metro in all of this. I doubt he cars if Carly loses it as long as he makes money.

You're probably right since Metro already has more investors than a Broadway show and it does not seem to help. I remember Carly having a charity function at Metro when it opened which only helped short term. If Craig is starting a new venture it will have to benefit him for him to show any interest. Sooooo in the end if its between Midnight Sun and Metro Carly will have to either switch to the Vodka business or go out of business.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear... it was the sound effects I was laughing at. Does it really sound like that when someone gets punched? Was the sound effect really necessary?
