Paul's at Fairwinds and he keeps calling Lucy to find out if Dusty's there yet. :rolleyes Finally Dusty arrives, but he tells Lucy that he can't go through with this lie, it's too big a lie. He says he's going to go talk to Paul and tell him not to tell Craig about what Lucy's doing, or else. :rolleyes

Paul's also been on the phone with Meg, who says she's got a sitter, Sally, and is going to the movies. Paul tells her that she should go to The Lakeview, instead, and see what's going on in Lucy's cosy little bedroom suite, with Dusty. :rolleyes Of course, Meg listens to Paul and heads over to The Lakeview.

Meanwhile, Dusty's headed to Fairwinds but when he arrives, the maid tells him that Mr Ryan went out to the Snyder farm.

Sure enough, Paul's gone over to the farm and paid off Sally the Sitter, so he's alone with Eliza.

When Meg gets to Lucy's suite she knocks and Lucy lets her in. Lucy says that Dusty was there, but nothing happened. Meg wants to know what's going on, but Lucy says she can't tell him. Meg says that Dusty told her not to believe anything that Paul tells her, so then Lucy asks Meg what she's doing there... :shutup Meg asks Lucy where Dusty went, and Lucy says that Dusty was headed to Fairwinds... :smack

At the farm, Dusty takes a swing at Paul, after telling him to stay away from Craig. Of course, Paul keeps egging on Dusty, so Dusty does a pretty good job on Paul. Dusty leaves and Paul's on the ground. He's a happy man, though, and goes inside and pushes Eliza's stroller out on the porch, then he sets a kitchen towel on fire and puts it in a skiller and goes outside and lays on the ground. :smack That's where he is when the social worker shows up. Paul's called her and said he had something to drop off... Paul spins a tale about how he got to the farm and the baby was alone, no sitter, no Meg and that then Dusty showed up and beat him up. He says he never should have told Meg that her boyfriend was cheating on her. :waiting

Then Paul says he smells smoke and rushes into the house, after giving Eliza to the social worker. Paul puts out the fire and comes back outside, saying everything's okay. The social worker says she can't ignore a case of child neglect, and that's when Meg shows up and asks what's going on. :waiting

That same night is supposed to be Carly's date with Craig. Sage is trying to be encouraging but Carly ends up deciding not to go on the date. Sage goes to spend an overnight with a "cool new girl" and Carly puts the roses Craig gives her in a vase. She gives Craig a bunch of excuses for not wanting to date him, and they end up going out for just a friendly drink. Of course they end up at Yo's and run into Jack and Janet, who are also having a date night. It's not going real well, though, as Jack's being a sadsack... :wacko

The foursome ends up having some beers together and doing a little dancing. Carly's had too much to drink and ends up getting pretty clumsy on the dance floor. Jack notices and tells Janet that he thinks Carly might have a problem with substance abuse. Janet suggests a possible intervention. Not for Carly, but for Jack. :lol :lol :lol

Carly and Craig are back at her house. Liberty's out with the girls and Parker is at the movies, supposedly... Craig starts a little friendly/sexual banter with Carly, who's getting kind of a kick out of him, and they decide to have a nightcap. She says that the beers at Yo's went right to her head and Craig says it's probably because of all the tension. Carly agrees, saying that the last thing she needs is Jack Snyder on her back about drinking. :hmm She says that Jack thinks anybody who has more than 2 drinks is on the road to perdition, and Craig says he guesses that makes Jack a real buzzkill. :shutup

Dusty's gone back to The Lakeview and Lucy's taking care of Dusty's hands, and Dusty's telling her that he really cares a lot for Meg. :sleeping

Meg keeps insisting that the babysitter was at the farm, but Paul has such a good mix of lies and truth, that the social worker is convinced he's telling the truth. Meg tells Paul to give Eliza to her, but Paul refuses, saying that he's taking the baby with him, she isn't safe with Meg. :gaah Of course the social worker agrees, and trots off behind Paul and Eliza, on the way to Fairwonds. :smack :pullhair

Meg goes to Dusty's suite and finds Lucy there. Meg tells Lucy to leave and she does, snarkily, and Meg starts ranting at Dusty about beating up Paul. Dusty says he'd do it again and Meg says he fell right into Paul's plan, and now Paul has Eliza. :cry Dusty says that Paul was blackmailing Lucy and Meg says oh, so Lucy is more important than Eliza and me? Dusty yells that Lucy is his only connection with Johnny. Dusty says that "we" will get Eliza back, but Meg says there's no "we", he can take care of his son and she'll take care of Eliza! :2thumbs

At Fairwinds, Paul cuddles Eliza and says he's never going to lose her again. :wacko

Carly and Craig have had enough booze by now that, as Carly says, the friendly date is feeling more like a real, serious one, and they head upstairs, with Carly reminding Craig not to forget the bottle... :smack

Thank goodness this day is over! :gaah I was dreading it. I know the aftermath will take awhile, but at least it's a start....

I thought I heard somebody knocking on Carly's door before she and Craig went upstairs, did anybody else hear it? Must be my imagination... :hmm

Little Sage is growing up, what a cutie. :muchlove

I didn't see the whole episode but what I saw I did enjoy.

Love the Carly storyline because I do think they are writing her sympathetically. Janet and Craig seem like the villains here. Craig because he is so clearly manipulating Carly - they have finally stopped pretending otherwise - and Janet because she knows and she is keeping her mouth shut. So much for not lying to her husband.

I kinda think I prefer Paul as a bad guy.

Meg still annoys me.

Uh, wouldn't it be easy to get the babysitter to admit she was there and Paul told her she could go? I admit I didn't see this part of the show; I only caught the last 20 minutes or so.

I watched the show....DEAD not LIVE....and actually the hour seemed to have a couple of good moments as my heart breaks just trying to type that short compliment.

I came so close to turning off ATWT for good once PAUL lit the towel on fire. I could just see EMMA's BED & BREAKFAST burning down to the ground. I do wish that DUSTY would have HIT PAUL HARDER.

I did wonder if TPTB are REALLY TRYING to decrease viewership of ATWT.

I was also very thankful that AT LEAST there was no PARKER and LIBERTY with the adults.

AND :lol I also remember coming up with the title for the day....HOW TO BE A CRAPPY PARENT.

cycworker, yes, they could definitely ask the babysitter if she was there, and she'd have to say yes. Unless she for some reason decided to lie. I can't think why she'd do that, unless she thought she could get more money out of Paul to lie. It looked like he gave her a goodsized wad just to go ahead and leave... :waiting

OK, Tania, I posted my response to your post about how you'd write ATWT if you were the writer. It's in that other thread... :biggrin

Paul's actions were really disturbing. He is one sick, repulsive man :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke One spark and the whole farmhouse could have gone up like a tinder box. And there was smoke coming out of the house. I wonder if Eliza will end up getting sick because of smoke inhalation :huh I was cheering Dusty on however and think he should have hit him a few more times :devil

It would be too logical to call the babysitter :rolleyes And besides this horrendous story would have ended right now.

Yesterday also showed how out of control Carly's life has become. No way would a clear thinking Carly not have checked to see if Parker was at home and okay after everything that has gone on. She wouldn't just leave him alone. And she absolutely wouldn't have taken Craig to bed with Parker in the house. :rolleyes

I did like Jack's response to thinking Carly has a drinking problem. First he mentioned like many of us that Carly has been through a lot before and never turned to alcohol. And at the thought of her admitting a problem, he said he was sure she would have a lot of support. No wonder Janet helps cover for Carly. She knows a lot of that support would come from Jack and she sure doesn't want that :rolleyes I hope and tend to think that in the end Jack will be the one that is there for Carly when all hell breaks lose.

I don't know why, but I find Paul more interesting when he is sick and disturbed. I just think with all he went through, having James and Barbara for parents, he should be nuts.

Am not sure I like Dusty any better than Paul. He really doesn't think before he acts.

ICAM re: Carly and Jack. Janet's covering for Carly will blow up on her, big time, imo.
