Henry, in the role of Geneva Swift, is a guest on Oakdale Now, with Kim acting as mediator between an angry Vienna and Geneva. Katie's home watching, and is so cracked up at Geneva's antics that she calls Henry to tell him about it, and of course, 'Geneva's' phone rings, and she turns it off... Katie pauses her tv and gasps, "OMG! It's Henry!"  Carly's apparently feeling good and not drinking. She's feeling so good, in fact, that she decides to invite Jack and Janet over for a BBQ... Craig's already there, and in fact, Sage, on her way out the door, has seen Carly and Craig kissing, and doesn't waste any time in expressing her feelings "gross" about that.  Jack and Janet show up, the time thing is showing big time again, since there's only about 5 minutes time between the time that Sage gets to the farm to go riding with Jack and the time that they're all together at Carly's for the BBQ.  Well, it turns out that Carly's been drinking seltzer water... which is good..but, she's been adding bitters, which has alcohol!  Parker catches her putting the bitters in, she doesn't try to hide it, or lie, but he reads the label and gets on her for it. Craig comes into the kitchen while Parker and Carly are arguing and is appalled when he learns about the bitters. He can't believe that 1)Carly didn't know it contained alcohol and 2) she didn't realize she was getting drunk... Carly says she thought she was "getting better"... Of course, Jack walks in on the whole mess....After the show, Kim tells Brad and Vienna that she intends to make Geneva a regular part of the show.  Henry's back home, in his own clothes, when Katie calls and tells him to come over right away, it's important.  Jack asks what's going on, and Parker says that he'd wanted to go to a concert that night and Carly said no, cause it's a school night. Craig says that he made the mistake of siding with Parker, which got Parker hotter under the collar than he ordinarily would have... Jack says that something doesn't feel right, but nobody comes out with the truth,and the BB's still on.... Henry rushes to Katie's, he's worried that something might be wrong with the baby. Katie starts talking about watching Geneva Swift, and says that she's worried about the way the woman was humiliating Vienna in a very vicious way.... Henry starts sticking up for Geneva, without giving himself away, but of ccourse, Katie knows, and she asks Henry to get her a small trash can from the corner. He does, and asks her if she's feeling okay. She smirks and says she's feeling just fine, and pulls a piece of part of Henry's makeup off his face. Katie tells Henry that what he's doing is wrong, and that he should stop, but he says that he won't stop until Vienna is off the air. He says that people all over town come up to her now and act like they know her, and that the wardrobe malfunction is getting lots of hits on USTUBE... Katie admits she's not happy either, with Vienna being so sexy and working with Brad, but that Henry is going to be in trouble if he doesn't tell Vienna the truth... At the studio, Kim tells Vienna that it would be fine with her if Vienna's wardrobe got even more provocative, and in fact, Kim thinks Vienna should do a show on pole dancing. Vienna laughs and says she doesn't need a class, maybe just a refresher, and she'll practice on Henry. Brad gets home and tells Katie and Henry that Kim is going to ask Geneva to become a regular feature on Oakdale Now. Katie says that maybe 'Geneva' will say no.... but Henry looks as if he's telling Katie, "Ha!" When the BB's over and Janet and Jack leave, Carly thanks Parker and Craig for not saying anything to Jack about the bitters. They both tell her that it wouldn't have made any difference, Jack isn't the problem....  Carly swears that she can quit,and pours out the bitters, but a disillusioned Parker walks out, while Carly sadly huddles in Craig's arms... When Jack and Janet get home, Jack can't stop thinking that he walked in on something really wrong, in Carly's kitchen, but Janet tells him to please, please, please just believe that things are okay... I've got an announcement to make... I'm going to take a leave of absence from doing recaps, it's been a long time that I've been doing them, and I think it's time for a break. So today is it for now...  I'll still be watching the show most days, and of course commenting on parts of it, but not in the recap form. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.  |

Thank you again for another great recap. Sorry to hear that it will be your last one for now. I read them during my lunch break at work and totally enjoy them, especially the comments and emoticons you make.  It is a lot of hard work that you do and you have spoiled me. I read your recaps everyday and decide whether to watch the show when I get home. Oh well, I guess it's back to the ol' fast forward button on the remote. Again thank you for all your hard work and enjoyment your recaps have given many of us.  halways

Barb, you definitely deserve a break from the daily grind. I think we'll all miss them, but certainly understand the need to let it go. Thanks for doing them for such a long time.

Sorry to hear this. I will miss your recaps. Maybe those of us who are watching every day could contribute parts that they think are worth recalling. It is difficult for only one person to write these each day. I've tried a few and it is REALLY hard and something usually gets left out. But we'll always have something worth discussing, whether its silly dialogue or continuity errors. Posts can still continue. So, figures Kim would run with Geneva Swift like she's the answer to how to fix Oakdale Now!  Unfortunately if all this is gonna do is create debate about what is appropriate for daytime talk shows it's like beating a dead horse. Vienna bared her boobs for 2 seconds, no FCC fine evidently while Geneva made her case against it. End of discussion! Cute device for a couple of shows. Now, pleeeease let's move on.  Ya know, if Carly's intention was to keep drinking while convincing everyone she's sober she REALLY needed to find a better hiding place. I guess if tptb extended this story and didn't have to think of Maura's maternity leave we'd be seeng adding shots to coffee, drinking cooking sherry while making dinner, chugging back beers (covered by paper bags)at kids' sport events etc. Whatya know, she managed to convince Jack and Janet but looking at previews, looks like Parker's gonna tell Jack about Carly hitting Craig which means the end of Carly's charade is near.

Since I still watch....it is truly a rare day that I WATCH and READ the RECAP by BARB. I only look for the color commentary so I KNOW that will not go away!!!! A suggestion for a replacement for a full hour recap....I would love to just read about the first FIVE MINUTES...which tends to set the tone for the whole hour. MS. SWIFT...if ONLY she was truly a woman...because of all of the personas that have graced OAKDALE....MS. SWIFT epitomizes a LARGE CONTINGENT of VIEWERS, past and present, in good old Central Illinois. I have met literally a HUNDRED MS. SWIFTs in the area where OAKDALE is fictiously located. I have never met a LISA...VIENNA...MARGO....CARLY...BARBARA RYAN (fashion designer wisse)...and then ADD ALL of the DARK SIDEs of the characters that have graced the screen....NEVER met them in this area.... |

Thanks Barb. One the days I manage to watch I wouldn't mind recapping for people who missed it and want to know what happened. It could never measure up to Barb, though. Can I just vent about what REEEEALY bugged me yesterday? Carly, Craig and Parker are arguing about the bitters and Jack comes in. The bottle was NOT hidden. It was RIGHT THERE on the counter by the sink? How is it possible that Mr. Ace Detective failed to see it? |
