I never thought that watching Carly and Craig get engaged could be so mindnumbingly dull. You'd think that with pulling Rosanna and the history with all of them into it, it would have been engaging and emotional, but all I felt like doing was How about you guys?

I did not feel like sleeping. I really enjoyed LAST WEEK. Then on MOMDAY, we planned on eating and watching the soap and it seemed as if the show was reverting back to its old ways. I kept watching CRAIG and CARLY and thinking could this just speed up so I could remove gunk out of my mom's gutters!!!??? Now THAT is not a very endearing endorsement. |

I usually think they are mind numbingly boring Craig's proposal sounded more like a business proposition and they couldn't have made it more obvious that Carly doesn't love him. I think she thought Rosanna would object and that would be her out and hence why she had to chug more vodka when she got home when Rosanna didn't end this for her. And now she has another qualifier with the kids. Anybody who has watched Carly for any length of time knows when she wants something she goes for it and there is no stopping her. It's clear this isn't what she wants. She's become as dependent on Craig as on vodka so she doesn't want to say no herself and send him away and have him really gone. Her final look in the mirror at the end said it all. Even Carly doesn't recognize herself. I have a feeling this is going to get ugly.

Making a statement.... I have had such a rough time dealing with watching Carly's demise with alcohol...and then flashing black to her IRL husband's tortured past on the show. MAN...there is no comparison how the writing staffs have handled the two different time periods. Coulda...Shoulda....etc. One thing I would have love to have seen is CARLY and DrSUSAN teaming up through AA. |

Well they still have time to involve Susan in this during Carly's recovery. Since Carly is convinced AA is not for her at this point, I can understand why Susan isn't involved at this point. Carly still hasn't accepted she has a problem. She didn't hesitate at all to pour that vodka in her coffee. So I still have a slim hope that maybe they will involve Susan when Maura returns. I too have wondered if Scott and Maura talked about how different their alcohol stories were handled on the show. I have to think they would I know she has said Scott doesn't watch the show on a regular basis but it sounds like he reads lines with her at least some of the time and then will say I want to see that so he does watch some.

Knowing as we do that Maura is going on maternity leave soon, it leaves this engagement hanging in the air, a bubble that will soon pop. I would be REALLY shocked if Carly and Craig married before Maura went on leave so that leaves the possibility they will stay engaged while Carly's away at rehab? This feels like a way to stretch out this story until Carly finally gets real help like AA or rehab. As much as I will hate not having Maura on the show I'm tired of waiting for that big moment.

Carly needs Craig to protect her from the "outside" world so she can keep hiding her own "inside" world with the alcohol. Craig, who I think really does love Carly, knows it and is taking advantage of the situation so he can marry her. Getting her to say yes while she's so dependant on him would be much easier than when she's her old self. It was boring though, and it was fast, and it's all setting up Carly's departure. I hate that she's leaving because she's still the most interesting character for me. Hopefully, the comeback story will have a lot more to it. |
