Craig brings Carly white roses in celebration of their engagement and asks Carly if she's still interested. She says yeah but she still needs to tell the kids and Jack the news. Craig offers to tell Jack --he's confident that he and Jack have a new understanding and that its his job now to protect her. At the farm Janet and Jack are all cuddly and he's off while she has to go to work. Jack's planning to go to Carly's to take the kids to see fireworks but Janet is certain he wants to check up on her. He admits he wants to be sure she's stopped drinking and with Craig around its hard to know what's really going on. While Craig is off to the farm to tell Jack she rounds up Parker and Sage. Just as she's about to tell them, Jack's at the door and can see he interrupted something. When he asks what's going on Sage blurts out, "Mom was about to tell us that she's marrying Craig." Craig shows up at the farm and since Jack's not there he tells Janet the news. At first she reacts like it must be a joke. Then she realizes she should have seen it coming. Craig thinks Jack will worry less about Carly if Craig's married to her and Janet feels that's not at all likely. Craig further argues that Carly would be a good mother to Johnny and it would help Carly to have someone to count on and he's the man for the job. Janet admits she would like Carly to get married but to someone from out of town who would take her with him. Janet hopes Craig can deal with Carly's issues and wishes him good luck cause he's gonna need it. Janet is being harsh about Carly but I think the bigger issue she points out is how clueless Craig is in thinking that HE is the solution to her problems. That marrying him will keep her clean and sober.Jack seem shocked at first at the news but then he laughs and smiles and says he hopes she will be happy. (yeah, putting up a good front for the kids ) Carly thinks having Craig and Johnny in their lives might be good and Sage asks if they will move in. Carly says they can discuss it. She is there to talk to help them get used to the idea. Sage then asks Carly if she loves Craig the same way she loved Jack. Jack trying to make things easier for her says "of course why else would she marry him." After the kids leave Jack says since he is now married to someone else he has no right to run her life (until Carly does something he doesn't like) He then asks her if she loves Craig the way she loved him. Carly never answers the question directly but basicaly says how Craig is good for her, not the man he used to be. Jack then points out as part of 12 step programs, major lifestyle changes are not recommended whle in early recovery and Carly says she's not an alcoholic anymore thanks to Craig. No more alcohol in her life, period. Then she pushes for Jack's blessing and he says while he's he won't do that , he will be there for the kids. After Jack leaves Carly's a bundle of nerves and starts gulping down vodka in the kitchen. Meanwhle Sage and Parker are talking on the patio and SAge wonders why Carly has to marry Craig. Parker guesses they love each other and Craig is always over there and it would be nice to have a little brother to boss around. Sage figues he just wants to make nice to Craig to get more of his trust fund. Parker says they should give their mom a chance and Sage realizes that she's not gonna get back together with their dad and should have given up on that idea a whle ago. Parker walks into the kitchen and sees Carly drinking with the bottle of vodka on the counter. She tries to cover saying it's water but Parker knows the truth. Brad is dreading doing the show with Geneva Swift especially since Katie is going for an OBGYN visit and he wants to be there. He makes fun of "her" looks and says doing the show with an amateur is so wrong because of his "journalistic integrity" Katie reminds him he's only a t.v. personality. Over at Henry and Vienna's he's hiding Geneva's new outfit and she spills that Kim wants her and Geneva to do pole dancing. Henry objects in such a tone it reminds V of Geneva. Later on while Brad, Vienna and Kim wait for Geneva, our new star has a crisis. He runs through Katie's doorway asking for her help. Henry: "I have to be at the studio right now and I can't get my breasts straight!" Katie tries not to laugh as she helps him with stuck zipper and adjusts his melons. He keeps worrying the dress makes him look hippy but Katie is worried about other matters. Like the fact he signed a contract as " Geneva Swift" and its not binding because "she" does not exist. And what if Brad finds out and wonders why Henry hid this and made a fool of him. He says he'll do this long enough for Geneva to accomplish her mission to stop Vienna making a spectacle of herself. Of course Vienna's not gonna be a spectacle for long cause she throws her back out while practicing and Kim has the inspiration to have Geneva replace her. "What do you know about pole dancing?" Geneva says she's "here to do commentary not be some sexual gymnast." but Kim reminds her and Brad that according to the contract she agrees to whatever the producer requests or they're fired! So they tape a funny segment-- Geneva recommends pole dancing as a kind of excercise and Brad starts giggling at the phrase "all you need is a pole" and then says "Come on Babe shake that thing!" She's insulted of course and quietly offers to kick Brad's teeth in. She does the pole dance and ends up falling on her butt. When Brad laughs she challenges him to do it and he falls on his back. Kim's saying "this is going so much better than I ever dreamed." Brad of course feels she makes him look like an idiot (but ya know Brad when you make fun of Geneva you kind of are.) I guess for Kim the show is turning from a basic lifestyle show to an issue show about sexism and gender roles? Geneva, the new star, is swarmed by three fans who had seen her earlier. They run on to the set and take a picture with her whle totally ignoring Brad. Katie finds Vienna in the hospital and when V asks about Henry she covers and leave him messages to get there asap. and then Brad and Kim show and wonder where he is. Turns out V just had a muscle spasm and has to be home on bed rest. Then later Henry still dressed as Geneva rushes into his room and is surprised to see Vienna lying in bed with Kim standing by. It looks like the gig is up but when V asks what "Geneva" is doing there, "she" explains she heard what happened from the crew and had to come over to check on her. (Never mind that "Geneva" let herself in with a key ) Kim follows her out the door and offers her a job to replace Vienna as co host. Kim says she knows star power when she sees it. So Geneva accepts! Henry calls Katie and tells her the news. He feels he really can pull this off! Back at the farm Jack tells Craig he will not sabotage this marriage but that Craig has a lot of work to do before ANYONE can be happy about this union. Craig then suggests in a mean tone that Jack should curb his negative attitude and Carly benefits from positive ones and she has a new man in her life so "doesn't need a backup" Craig leaves and Janet reminds Jack that Carly's problems are not his anymore even if he feels she's making the worst decision of her life. Then Parker shows and says he's really worried about Carly that he caught her drinking and she would not admit to it. After Jack leaves to talk to her, Parker wonders to Janet what will happen and if Craig can take care of her like Jack once did? Craig gets to Carly's and proclaims he's ready for them to prove Jack and Janet wrong and tries to kiss her. She backs away so he won't notice the alcohol on her breath and offers to go make coffee. Craig looks like WTF but they sit down for coffee and then Jack bursts in accusing Craig of covering for Carly to hide her drinking. She denies that she was drinking even when he asks her point blank. She asks Craig to believe her and he looks over at Carly and then back at Jack not knowing what to believe. I feel really bad for Carly but her covering for her problem by committing to Craig is wrong. I hope Jack's stong arm tactics can get her on the road to sobriety because Craig declaring his love and devotion ain't workin'! Edited by RichB, Jun 26 2009, 01:18 AM.

Thanks for the sum up. Sadly, I don't think either Craig or Jack will help Carly. The telling sign was when Carly said (to Jack I think) "I'm not an alcoholic". That pretty much says it all - until she gets that, she won't get help. All in all I liked today's show. No Meg/every guy in Oakdale stuff to FF through! |

I really loved the Sage/Parker stuff in Thursday's show! As for Jack and Carly, well, disregarding the actual carjack stuff, Maura and Michael once again demonstrated their wonderful chemistry. ![]() Now, I also loved Craig, I think he has lots of chemistry.... with just about everybody. I love how he always says to Janet, when he first sees her, "Why, hello, Mrs Snyder!" I liked the way Parker seems to be drawing closer to Janet, and the way she is with him, and I how Parker is now so concerned about his mom. I know a kid shouldn't have to deal with stuff like that, but it is what it is, and this is so much better than Parker being hateful to Carly. ![]() Couldn't believe when Carly tried to convince Parker that she was drinking WATER out of a vodka bottle. ![]() Rich, I don't think the Geneva Swift stuff is turning into anything for Kim except a ratings boost, and it is so stupid I can't stand it. And HOW does Brad making fun of Geneva make him look like an idiot? AND, what was truly idiotic was.... the idea that Kim wouldn't have let Brad off to take Katie to a doctor's appointment, OR that Katie couldn't have scheduled her appointment for a time when Brad wasn't working. ![]() Also STUPID was the fact that Geneva burst into Vienna's hotel room while Vienna and Kim were there, and neither of them wondered how in the hell she/he got in there. ![]() |

It was nothing in particular but I just had one thought watching yesterday's show, "FTLOG just put Carly and Jack back together already!!" It's freakin' ridiculous that we've had to wait this long! I was actually thinking I'd like to see them together again before the show gets canceled or my hair turns gray!... Is their 'together but married to other people' family drama really that much more interesting than their 'together, together" family drama? Nope... I like Craig but could his character be any more repetitive? I swear, Jon, and Maura & Michael for that matter, have been using the SAME Mad-Libs as scripts for months! I did love Parker going to Jack right away after catching Carly.. first cool thing he's done in a while! |

O.K. then Brad's making fun of Geneva makes Brad look like an A-HOLE! With the pretty Katie and V his joking was cute, now he's just plain rude! This whole Geneva business is all about comparing the ordinary person with the glamorous in spite of Henry's intentions. But instead of G vs. V its become the ordinary woman fighting for respect. I wonder if Kim will eventually decide to pull Brad from the show altogether! The pole dancing concept, though was plain silly and only enertained because it was Trent in drag!

The level of stupidity sure rises when only KATIE can figure out that GENEVA is HENRY. I think I could actually enjoy a HENRY moment when he just wonders WHY know one can figure out that GENEVA is HENRY. As much as I have loved VIENNA and HENRY...this is the first time I truly think maybe this should end the coupling....just because VIENNA is so clueless about who GENEVA is. |

I hear what you're saying, and ordinarily I'd be right there with you, but I AM SORRY, this Henry in drag as Geneva just has me so, oh, I don't know what it has me, but it isn't good. That I absolutely cannot give the story any serious cred, so any thought that Brad is dissing normal women in any way just flies right past me.

Juliagro, MY hair is already gray, so I guess I'd have to say that I wish they'd get back together before the show is cancelled. I so agree, if splitting up carjack was supposed to make for fresh, new, entertaining story, it sure hasn't, so why not just put them back together?

Ya know I hear what YOU'RE saying and this silliness makes me wish Kim or Brad saw through Henry's drag and that they were encouraging this as a trick on Henry. But of course THAT would be too clever for tptb! Actually, this storyline is a tribute to all the people who have ever thought Dame Edna Everidge or RuPaul were ACTUALLY women in real life.
