So far I'm fine with nuAdam, although I'm one who does miss old Adam.

OK with all the talk about Y+R I started to give it another try (I watched sporatically in the 90s) to get my soap fix after dropping ATWT in Feb. I feel I should say that I have deep respect for the cast and have admired them even when I didn't watch (which I also kept up with the stories) On to the new Adam. Coming from a limited viewer I felt there was something about the original actor that "sparked" (and I'm not going on that I liked his looks). There was a rawness about his acting that made you connect with him. The actor should do well in his career. And I can say I don't think he left the show for homophic reasons, but more for the dark twist Adam has taken. As for nuAdam, well it was a stark change at first. But, there was something about Friday's ep that took to me (and no it wasn't the kiss). Still I think the original is a better actor. Now a question about Adam. I figured out he's Victor Jr. and Hope was his mother. Now when did he start going by Adam? Other general Y+R tid bits. I love that Nina is back and am interested in the Cain story. Noah and Abby grew up quickly!! This Billy is easy on the eyes, Victoria married JT???? Oh, and Kara I saw Amber texting Ali and wondered about a ATWT cross over. |

Bill, I think that Victoria and JT are actually married IRL as well and have a little boy.  Adam's name... it's hard to remember, when he came to Genoa City his last name wasn't Newman, I think he might have had Hope's maiden name... or his step-dad's, if he had a step-dad. Eventually he took the Newman name. I know Kara will be able to fill you in on all this.  Like you, I liked the old Adam, but hope this nuAdam will work, he isn't horrible or anything...

First of all, Bill I'm glad to hear you're watching Y&R again. I really think it's the best soap on the air. I thought the original actor who played Adam was very good. Bill, I agree with your assessment about the "rawness in his acting", and I also think his reason for leaving was the darkness in Adam's storyline rather than anything to do with homophobia. I'm also okay with the new guy. He's a lot better than many recasts. I guess he was on Veronica Mars, which I didn't watch but which a few people I know have said was very good. Barb, you're right about Adam's name. When he came to Genoa City, he was Adam Wilson (his stepfather's name). I believe Adam is his middle name. Yes, Victoria & JT are married both on and off screen, and they have a little boy IRL. My favorite storyline right now is Cain/Nina/Phillip. It's so rare when a soap actually SURPRISES me the way Y&R did when we found out Phillip is alive. Bill, Alison Stewart actually appeared on Y&R right before she returned to Oakdale. She helped Amber trick Cain into thinking he married her in Vegas. The truth finally came out later. -Kara |

I kn ew you'd be a font of info, Kara. And I spaced that Bill wouldn't know about the "Ali" and "Amber" connection.  You know, I knew that nuAdam had been on Veronica Mars, which I watched and loved, but totally forgot about it. He definitely looks different and of course acts different, too, on Y&R.

Thanks. I figured you two would help me out! I now kind of remember the Ali/Amber cross over when the new Ali started. Wasn't there also a web show that went along with it. Speaking of recasts this Mac is as stiff as a 2X4!! And I still "see" Victoria Tom as Victoria. |

Bill, what's funny or interesting or whatever, to me, is seeing Heather Tom now on B&B playing opposite the actor who played Brad on Y&R. Of course, he's not Brad now, but I always think of them, when they're in scenes, as Victoria and Brad.
