Today was the reveal that Phillip Chanceller Jr. is really alive and Cane is a fraud. Boy was it GREAT!!!! Never been a fan of Y&R but it's smoking lately. Thom Bierdz is back as Phillip and Cane is exposed. I loved the way real Phillip came in at the end and said "He didn't do it..I did." And the fact that it was the same actor who played Phillip all those years ago made it so perfect when Jill, Nina and Katherine were absolutely STUNNED by the revelation!!! Next week is going to be great. On another story line that I'm into, Nick and Phyllis lost custody of Summer. I get the fact that she was exposed to the peanut cookies and that may have been the reason for loss of custody, but who reported that to the authorities? Was it that lunatic Mary Jo? And also did Mary Jo give Summer the peanut cookies? I've watched Y&R several times this week but missed a few episodes. Phillip Chancellor Jr. Lives!!! What a great cliffhanger!!!! Today was truly a cliffhanger Friday. Y&R has been on fire lately and today was certainly off the hook. I can't wait to see how Jilly/Nina/Kay react to Philip being alive!! Y&R is truly on fire this summer and it just keeps getting better!!! |

Patty, from what I got, Mary Jo, somehow put the cookies where Phyllis would eat them, I didn't see the actual part, but I heard Phyllis say later on that she had thrown the cookies away, she was feeling guilty and saying she should have taken them completely out to the trash dumpster, so that Summer wouldn't get them, which is what happened, I guess, that Summer got them. Now, I also heard Mary Jo, after seeing Summer in the hospital, having one of her crazy episodes, crying and saying, "I'm so sorry, Summer, I didn't mean this to happen!" and she is the one who called in about Phyllis being a bad mother, of course Heather came to the hospital blabbing about how maybe this is munchhausen by proxy.  Now, I don't know if Phyllis is also allergic to peanuts, and that's how Mary Jo planned on harming her, or if Mary Jo added something else to the cookies, but surely that would have shown up....  And now Nikki and Victor have temporary custody of Summer. Victor is babbling about taking Summer to the ranch and teaching her to ride. Uh, wouldn't it be better to wait until she's out of the coma?  I have to watch today's show, I was watching the reveal, but stopped right as Cain was going to speak, so missed Phillip. I have it recorded, though.

Friday's show was great! I'm really loving Y&R right now -- with the exception of Mac, who is boring as hell. Get her away from Billy! Billy & Chloe nail every scene, then Mac comes on and puts us all to sleep.  Here's what I remember about what Mary Jane did: She was in the Restless Style office with Phyllis and Summer when Phyllis saw the peanut butter cookies on her desk. Phyllis immediately grabbed the cookies & threw them in a wastebasket, then told Summer not to eat the cookies because she (Summer) is allergic to peanuts. Then Phyllis had to run off on some emergency (like she's always doing) and Mary Jane grabbed the cookies & started eating them herself -- then she gave Summer a big kiss, thereby contaminating the poor kid with the peanuts. Personally, I don't know if this would even be possible in real life -- can you actually get an allergic reaction from kissing someone else who ate peanuts? But that's how it happened. What I also don't understand is why the doctors in the hospital didn't even bother to look for peanuts in Summer's system. Wouldn't you think they'd pump her stomach or something? Everyone just assumed the kid at the peanuts herself, and that's not what happened at all. -Kara Edited by Kara, Jul 4 2009, 05:12 PM.

Thanks, Kara, and yes, you can get an allergic reaction to peanuts from a kiss, and also apparently even from the smell if you're sensitive enough.

As anyone noticed that Thom Bierdz seems to have a lisp or he's slurring his words? I've found it very distracting...almost as distracting as the hair in his eyes. Althought the premise is a bit unbelievable I'm loving this story. This is what soaps are all about to me - family, love, pain, etc. I'm also enjoying Summer's coma even though its predictable. Yesterday's scenes with Sharon and Phyllis were great! |

HJ, I noticed that "Phillip's" speech was odd, and also the cadence, couldn't figure out what the deal was, wondered if that was how he was trying to "act"? If it was.....  His entire premise of why he faked his death, etc is so  I can't believe it, but at least it's better than the hospital stuff.. sorry, I FF through all of it, it's like dejavu all over again for me.

Barb, Thom's interviewed in the new SOD and it mentions how he's had lip injections and jaw reconstruction so I wonder if that's where the lisp came from? |

Thanks, HJ, that very well could explain it. Did they say why he had the injections and reconstruction?  Was he in a car accident? What was the deal with his brother, didn't he commit suicide or something, or was killed in some accident? I guess I need to google...

I agree with you HJ about the Summer coma story. I'm enjoying it too but I think it is taking too long for her to emerge from the coma. Of course the best part of the story is my favorite LUNATIC on Y&R Mary Jane. I love her glee when she does some of these dastardly deeds. And her conversations with her cat are great. Victor, Victor, Victor what a LUNATIC you unleashed on Genoa City. |
