And once again, it's an ex-ABC actor joining ATWT: Stuart Damon joining As the World Turns Posted Wednesday, July 01, 2009 3:36:12 PM As the World Turns has signed its second former General Hospital in the past month. Emmy winner Stuart Damon will join the CBS soap later this summer in a still-to-be-announced role. Damon portrayed Alan Quartermaine on GH for more than 30 years. The casting coups at As the World Turns are coming just about as fast as the show's storyline resolutions. The long-running CBS soap has apparently landed yet another former General Hospital star. Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Stuart Damon (ex-Alan Quartermaine, GH) will join the action in Oakdale by the end of the summer. Damon will be reunited with a pair of his former GH cast members, Jon Lindstrom (Craig Montgomery; ex-Kevin Collins, GH) and and Lynn Herring (Audrey; ex-Lucy Coe, GH), as well as former Port Charles stars Marie Wilson (Meg Snyder; ex-Karen Wexler, PC) and Julie Pinson (Janet Ciccone; Eve Lambert, PC). The Emmy-winning Damon was a member of the General Hospital cast from 1977 through 2007, when his character was killed off. Alan's death outraged fans, and the show quickly drafted a storyline that had Stuart return as Alan's "ghost." In actuality, Alan wasn't a ghost but rather a visual manifestation of Tracy Quartermaine's conscience. There's no word on who Damon will be playing on As the World Turns -- or how long he'll be sticking around. Judging by As the World Turns' taping schedule -- they're about two months ahead -- Stuart should debut sometime in late-August or early-September. An As the World Turns spokesperson did not immediately return requests for a statement. |

Of course I'm not familiar with the actor, but it seems like he'll be in a good age group, I mean, an age group that needs people? On the other hand, reading the article and seeing all the actors and where they came from, I had to go.... ![]() Something I've thought of, too, is that I suppose we'll be seeing the GL actors popping up in the other soaps...

I've heard speculation that this character will be involved in a mob storyline. I'm sorry, but that does nothing for me. I all but stopped watching GL during their mob storyline and I know that GH hasn't done well with theirs, either. |

I forgot to add, that I read something the other day speculating that Josh and Reva from GL could end up on ATWT. I know that this would thrill Barb, LOL.

It's TV Guide Canada that is saying Josh and Reva may come together as a couple to ATWT. I'll wait until we see it from a more reliable source. Plus we have our own super couple that needs reuniting before we have the big reunion of a couple from GL. As far as Stuart Damon while he is in the age that could use a man for the ladies, I highly doubt he will be involved in story with them. He's supposed to be heavily connected to somebody in Oakdale. He's also said himself he'll be playing a mafioso. My guess is he'll be tied to Damian or somebody and probably not even involved with Lucinda, Lisa or Susan. I'd be fine if it was about giving them airtime but I highly doubt that. I'm just sick of all the out of work ABC actors coming to ATWT for their reunion while we see less and less of the familiar faces of ATWT. If they feel they need more people, then bring back some favorites from ATWT. There isn't one actor joining the cast I have any interest in. I don't watch ABC soaps so they mean nothing to me and I haven't been all that impressed with most of the ABC actors we got so far. None of this changes the awful writing. What we really need are new writers and the only rumored writers we're getting are David Kreizman and Lucky Gold from GL who I understand were two of the worst. |

I like Reva and Josh, but with the writing the way it is.. I stopped watching GL years ago due to crappy writing and turned to ATWT, because they had what GL was lacking. Now ATWT is heading that way for me. I always read the recaps before I decide to watch and with no real urgency. I just don't feel like I am missing anything. |

I absolutely have always hated REVA on GL so please keep her (and Josh) away from ATWT!!!!!!!!! I like most of the actors that are coming to ATWT from the ABC soaps. They are good actors and I've always enjoyed their characters on their soaps. But they won't be playing them on ATWT. Lynn Herring (Henry's mother) is a wonderful actress and does comedy well. And I've always liked Stuart Damon. He was a wonderful Alan Quartermaine on GH. He would make a wonderful pairing with Elizabeth Hubbard. They are both wonderful actors and I could see them meshing well on ATWT. I hope they don't box him into a role that would have him on one week and off in a few weeks. If he's in the mob, there is a possibility that he might be involved with Janet's family too. Damian is Italian but so is Janet. Of course I would hate it if he was in any way involved with Janet, because I can't stand her. There are several actors on ATWT at this time who I wouldn't mind leaving. Janet being in the forefront of that list. And take Liberty with her (and Jack too - I hate to say that but Jack is such an awful character lately). |

Actually if tptb decided to write out characters so they can make room for the new ABC newbies, I would choose Meg and Paul over Jack and Janet. Not because of the actors who are great, but because of the writing hell that is Peg. Even when Paul and Meg are broken up the writing for them is totally ridiculous and brings down any others who are part of their stories. AS boring as the bonfire cleansing was Damian is much more appealing as a kind, loving father than as Meg's (yet another) knight in shining armour. Ro is boring as Paul's buddy but electrifying as Carly's supportive sister and even in scenes with her ex Craig! Jack and Janet have worked because of the connections to Craig, Carly and Parker. Julie has good chemistry with Jon. The only problem is tptb have Janet spending too much time whining about Jack and Carly and giving her two cents. She's been better when sparring with Carly or Craig or being supportive mother to Liberty, Parker and SAge. I hope the introduction of her sister will improve the writing for Janet cause i like Julie.

Rich, "writing hell" is the perfect description for PEG.
