They could have said Lisa was staying with Gram which would have made perfect sense. And they could have said they couldn't reach Barbara and have tried repeatedly. Last we saw Paul had her locked in the wine cellar with James so I'm guessing she couldn't be reached. I want them there as the story plays out but they could have so easily explained their absence if they put a little thought into it. It's details like that that matter. Absolutely Susan should be brought into this. We saw Ali try to call her but that isn't enough.

All it takes is a line or two (which is FREE) to make us longtime fans feel like this still IS a small town with a sense of community. If the budget doesn't allow for people to be in scenes together as much, mentioning them is a cheap alternative. It's certainly better than nothing.
