DENVER -- With Steve Nash and Grant Hill not playing for Phoenix on Tuesday night, Arron Afflalo and Chris Andersen knew the Nuggets were getting a gift from the Suns. Jerseys Cyber Monday . They didnt let the opportunity go to waste. Afflalo scored 20 points, Chris Andersen had 16 points, seven rebounds and six blocks and Denver broke open a close game in the third quarter to beat the short-handed Suns 109-92. Ty Lawson scored 17 points and rookie Kenneth Faried had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Nuggets, who snapped a five-game home losing streak. "It was huge," Afflalo said of winning at home. "It was a great win for us in Indiana but this was even more important because weve got to start establishing ourselves on our home court to let teams know its not going to be an easy walk here." Markieff Morris had 21 points, Michael Redd had 20 points and Marcin Gortat had 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Suns. Canadian star Nash and Hill sat out to rest and avoid risking getting hurt Phoenix coach Alvin Gentry said before the game. "Theyre a little run down. I dont feel its necessary to stick them out there with the possibility of injury," he said. The Nuggets appreciated not having to face the NBAs assist leader. "Phoenix kind of gave us a some slack by not playing Nash," Nuggets coach George Karl said. Without them in the lineup the Suns struggled early but came on strong after halftime. Denver was up 58-51 at halftime but Redd, who got the start for Hill and had 11 points at the half, led a Phoenix surge after intermission. He hit two three-pointers and converted a three-point play to tie the game at 62-all with 8:47 left in the third. "We played well enough to tie it up, we just couldnt keep up that pace," Redd said. The Nuggets quickly grabbed control again with their defence and the scoring of Afflalo. Lawson had two steals, one of which led to a clear-path foul, and Kosta Koufas had two blocked shots as Denver went on a 24-8 run to end the third. Afflalo led the way on offence, scoring 13 points after it was tied, including a three-pointer and two free throws that made it 86-70 heading into the fourth. "We started running again," Afflalo said. "We were running the court hard, we made a few big defensive possessions -- those feed our energy." The Nuggets held Phoenix to 33 per cent shooting. Andersen has struggled to find minutes lately but he made the most of them Tuesday. It was the third time in his career he has registered at least 15 points, five rebounds and five blocks in one game. "Thats Birdman. Definitely a wild card," Lawson said. "He was blocking everything." The Nuggets took advantage of the absence of Nash and Hill to jump out to a 10-0 lead. Denver stretched the lead to 33-19 on Rudy Fernandezs three-pointer late in the first. The Nuggets quickly increased the advantage to 16 points at the start of the second quarter before Phoenix made a charge behind Redd and Morris. Morris scored 11 of his 13 first-half points in the period and Redd scored seven points -- including a three-pointer -- in the final 1:51 of the half as the Suns pulled to within five with 19 seconds left before half. "We missed some early shots and that didnt shake us because we were able to get back into the game," Gentry said. NOTES: Andersen has 605 blocks as a Nugget, surpassing Antonio McDyess for sixth all-time on the franchise list. ... Koufas tied a season high with three blocked shots. ... The road team is 2-14 in this series since the start of the 2007-08 season. ... The Suns are in the middle of their first of three back-to-back-to-back games this season. Wholesale Jerseys . Pierre relishes the opportunity to be the go-to guy. St. Pierre scored twice, including the game winner, as the Bulldogs edged the host Toronto Marlies 2-1 on Saturday in American Hockey League action. Cheap Atlanta Falcons Jerseys . Early in the first period, Kostka was gaining possession of the puck and coming out from behind his own net when he was hit into the end boards. A scrum ensued with Kostka laying hurt on the ice. http://www.cheapjerseyssafe.com/ . So when they got one Monday night, they made the most of it. DJ LeMahieu had a career-best four hits, Jeff Francis pitched effectively into the sixth inning and the Rockies beat the Milwaukee Brewers 9-6. Cheap Detroit Lions Jerseys . Testaverde is one of 12 former players to be picked by the National Football Foundation as part of the latest Hall of Fame class. NBA Jerseys Black Friday . -- Its unusual for the Trail Blazers to talk about being frustrated with a win.NEW YORK -- Now all the Philadelphia Phillies and their fans can do is wait. For another day, at least. The Phillies say they will send Roy Halladay to see a doctor on Tuesday, two days after he came out of a start due to a sore right shoulder. On Monday, the team was still determining where and when, exactly, their star right-hander will be examined. Halladay first started to feel discomfort in Tuesdays start against Washington, but pitched through it. He cut back on throwing between starts, but it didnt help and he left after two innings against St. Louis that included Yadier Molinas grand slam. Halladay started the season in his usual overpowering way, holding the Pittsburgh Pirates to two hits in eight innings of a 1-0 win. Everything seemed pretty much normal until he blew a 6-0 lead and was pulled after eight earned runs in 5 1-3 innings against Atlanta on May 2. Since then, hes 1-3, and the Phillies have lost four of his five starts. The one win came in an ordinary effort against the Cubs, during Chicagos longest losing streak in at least 15 years. Halladay went on the disabled list in 2004 because of a shoulder injury, but rebounded with six All-Star appearances and won the 2010 NL Cy Young Award in his first year with Philadelphia. As good as he was in most of his 12 seasons in Toronto, he has been even better since coming to Philadelphia. In 2010 and 2011, he topped 200 strikeouts both seasons and struck out more than six batters for every one he walked. Philadelphias other ace, Cliff Lee, has had his own iissues. cheap jerseys from china. The Phillies are 2-5 in games the left-hander started, and he got into a dugout argument with outfielder Shane Victorino after Lee and Hunter Pence both misplayed balls Saturday, allowing the Cardinals take the lead. Lee got his fifth no-decision in Philadelphias 5-3 win. The Phillies have struggled since they were eliminated from the playoffs last October. Ryan Howard grounded out to end that series and ruptured his Achilles tendon while coming out of the batters box. Howard is still recovering, and Chase Utley hasnt played this year, either. The five-time All-Star second baseman began the season in Arizona, rehabilitating his chronically sore knees, and has been doing so with the Phillies lately, taking infield and trying to reach a point where he can contribute. Absent Halladay, the Phillies rotation probably would be Lee and fellow left-hander Cole Hamels, along with Joe Blanton and Kyle Kendrick. Vance Worleys absence due to elbow pain necessitated bringing in Kendrick, but Worley was checked out by Dr. James Andrews, who said the righty did not need surgery to replace the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. Worley has pitched well this season -- 45 strikeouts, 15 walks and a 3.07 ERA -- though when he might make his first start since May 11 is not yet known. Kendrick has probably shown enough to stick, with an ERA of 1.64 in his last five starts, and the Phillies have an off day Thursday, so they probably would not need a fifth starter immediately. ' ' '
