Among the returning veterans are captain and hooker Pat Riordan, vice captain and fly half Ander Monro and winger DTH van der Merwe. Taylor Paris is the youngest member of the squad at 19, and 35-year-old prop Frank Walsh the oldest. Fullback James Pritchard is a dead-on kicker and probably the Canadians best scoring threat. Two wins against Japan and Tonga and a third place finish would be seen as an incredible accomplishment for the Canadians and give them an automatic berth in the 2015 World Cup. New Zealand: IRB World Rank � 1stCoach: Graham HenryCaptain: Richie McCaw Host. and top-ranked, New Zealand is the definite favourite in the group, and is among the favourites to win the whole World Cup. They, along with two-time finalists France, should have no trouble taking the two quarter-final spots. The All-Blacks will also be grateful that, since they are in the same pool as France, there is no chance of going up against Les Tricolores in the quarters. France shocked New Zealand by knocking them out of both the 1999 and 2007 World Cups. If the two teams do meet again it would most likely be a repeat of the inaugural Rugby World Cup final in 1987 when New Zealand beat the French 29-9 in Auckland, NZ. While they are always amongst the favourites, the All Blacks have yet to win another World Cup title since that 1987 triumph. In hopes of doing so they have selected their most experienced squad in history. The team has 1,137 Tests between them and nine players have more than 50 caps. Captain Richie McCaw and Mils Muliaina are the most capped players in New Zealand history with 97 apiece. New Zealand also boasts perhaps the best fly half in the world in Daniel Carter. Despite Tri-Nations losses in August to South Africa and Australia their record speaks for itself and the hosts will have a great chance to deliver in front of their home crowd. France: IRB World Rank � 4thCoach: Marc Li�vremontCaptain: Thierry Dusautoir France comes into the tournament as something of a wild-card. In the past two years the French have defeated both powerhouses Argentina and New Zealand on foreign soil. They have also been beaten soundly 59-16 by Australia and lost to Italy in this years Six Nations Tournament in a shocking upset. The French are coming off back-to-back victories over Ireland in tourmanent tuneups though and should have some confidence. Led by captain and flanker Thierry Dusautoir, they have a back row to match any in the tournament. The French also have power and skill up front in Imanol Harinordoquy and Julien Bonnaire. In the backs, much will be expected from the half-back pairing of Morgan Parra and Francois Trinh-Duc. Les Tricolores lost World Cup finals in 1987, against New Zealand, and 1999, against Australia. Frances 2007 World Cup campaign ended with a semifinal loss to England after bouncing the All Blacks in the quarters. Tonga: IRB World Rank � 12thCoach: Isitolo MakaCaptain: Finau Maka Tonga, who did not have to qualify this year after finishing third in their pool in 2007, are ranked above both Japan and Canada, and will be hoping to match their achievement of four years ago. The Tongans feature several players from the 2007 tournament that beat both USA and Samoa, had a respectable showing against England, and came within five points of eventual champions South Africa.
